English is a mixture of languages including Latin, from when the Romans invaded, French-think of William the Conqeuror, Scandinavian languages, from the Viking invasions, Germanic languages brought by the Angles and Saxons (which is where Anglo-saxon comes from) and the indiginous languages such as Gaelic.

Because it was influenced by all sorts of other languages. They have different spelling rules. Many words are actually "foreign" words.

compare to chinese and german , i found english is bit chaotical ....but i dont know is it the most one or not...
