A few months ago my front windows stopped working. I checked the fuse for the power windows located underneath the hood. It looked fine, not burned out or anything. A couple of days ago the back windows went out as well. I've been too busy to take it to a dealer & I'd like to try & fix it myself. A guy at the oil change place said the fuse underneath the hood was still good. If it's the motor, is there any way I can fix it myself?

Could it be some other fuse, an electrical one? This particular fuse also controls the power locks and they still work. Any ideas on what to do would be appreciated.

Hmmm thats kind of weird that they both stopped working at the same time, as well as the back ones. That right there would lead me to believe it's electrical rather than your motors. They don't just go out at the same time. Sounds like a fuse though, I would check all of my fuses to make sure they aren't fried, sometimes they tie in other accessories with things you wouldn't think they would, it might just be another fuse that needs replaced.

Also I'm not real familiar with Altima's but on some cars they have 2 fuse panels, one under the hood and one located under the steering wheel area or on the side of your dashboard on the inside of the door on the drivers side.

Have any of your switches ever got wet or anything? It's possible you might have short circuited something but I would think that would cause them all to go out at the same time. Might just be a short to a ground or a loose wire. Electrical problems are the worst kind because theres so many things that it could be.

Good luck though, you'll need it! =)

I replace 10 times the master window switches to the amount of motors. I think I would start there. Easy to do the window switch panel hooks at the front and has a spring clip at the back three screws and two plugs and your done!

does the switches on each door work.....i guess what im asking is the control "master switch" on the driver door the only one your trying?....if so its that...no kind of recall or tsb on this issue with nissan...if the back door switches work than its prolly the master switch on the drivers door....really need to take it to the dealership...good luck.
