I love God with all of my heart so much. I want nothing more than to draw closer and walk with Him. He has done so much for me. But, I have a lot of temptation. I know we all do. I'm young I know sometimes I want to do things that i shouldn't do. Any advice?

Hey mate, I've been a christian for a long time and have experienced a very sad divorce, inamongst other painful things... Let me tell you from what the bible says... Christ died for our sins!!! Why??? Because He first loved us... He loved you first and there is nothing you can do outwardly to be a better christian... We are saved by grace, not of our own works, which doesn't give us the right to sin, it just means that when we make mistakes, we are reminded that we needed a saviour and that's why Christ died... If you truly love someone with all your heart, then the good things you do will come naturally... That's why He commands us to love Him with all our hearts, soul and mind!!! Don't try to do things yourself... Allow God to work in you naturally... All you have to do is just love Him!! Remember that He loved you first... That means He loves you unconditionally. God bless you Mate!!

No matter what your age, there will be temptation to do wrong. And it's human nature to gratify the flesh. Since I know that temptation will come, I think about it ahead of time. I know my weakness. So, I go before the Lord, and admit to him that I am weak and fearful in a particular thing...... fear that I will fail, maybe the test has already come, and I'm wavering, but after I ask God for help and ask for forgiveness.....when I pray from my heart, he hears me.......if I failed anyway, I ask his forgiveness and I know in my heart he does. Sometimes I read or study the scriptures for encouragement. Try to find an instance in the Bible where someone else went thru something that was hard, how did they handle it?

Make sure you start each day with a prayer and ask God to help you fight temptation.

Then take time to read your Bible for at least 20 minutes as you read how others were tempted and were able to overcome it.

Make friends at church and socialize with them as you all strive to act like Christians together and have fun.

When tempted, tell yourself no and say a quick prayer. The more you say no, the easier it will become and eventually you won't think about the temptations.

Just don't beat yourself up when you slip up and turn away from the temptation as soon as you can once you realize what you are doing ~ you are human and all humans make mistakes. Just pick yourself up and start anew.

Pray again at night, giving thanks that you were able to overcome the temptations and for forgiveness for those you didn't and ask for strength to be stronger when confronted again.

Then end your day with more Bible reading about how much God loves you.

I admire you and your desire to do your best. God bless you through your life as you enjoy each day and let your light shine for others.

A wise person, Charles Swindoll (no jokes), once wrote, "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven." It's one of my favorite quotes.

If you are dealing with temptation, give it to God. And look for verses, that will help you resist. You can look for verses easily on Bible Gateway.

http://www.biblegateway.com/

Also focus on the benefits that are yours if you don't yield. remember, God knows the end from the beginning. What would be some of the repercussions if you give in?

Radio Bible Class has a series of booklets called the Discovery series, which cover a number of topics. You may find a booklet on dealing with temptation there.

There are also resources that are specifically related to teenagers and the issues they face. I have seen them, but it may take a bit of time to locate them again. You can email me for those sources, and I will email the links back to you.

The last thing you can do is to speak to your pastor, or your youth minister/leader, or even your Sunday School teacher, who may be able to assisst you.

I hope you are able to find the help you need to remain strong.
May God bless, strengthen , and encourage you, and give you all the help you need at this time in your life

Hope I helped.

Keep praying, and remember temptation will always be there, so pray for the strength to overcome it. Good luck... I believe everyone who Loves God feels the same way you do, its just the devil trying to make you feel guilty. Don't let him win, and tomorrow is a brand new day, if you ask for forgiveness it is gone from you, its the devil reminding you of what you did wrong! Take care... Keep on keeping on.

Remember that God is with you no matter what, even when you do bad things he will forgive you and put people or events in your life so that you have opportunities to learn and grow. Just don't do things in spite of God or other people.

Religion is one thing, but spirituality is the most important thing in religion, it is so important that with out spirituality, religion would not matter.
You must always try to learn for we cannot even understand with our minds all of the ways of life, be patient, practice stregth through kidness, love and understanding.

Your question also reminds me of something I often heard in Catholic mass while growing up. It stuck with me. Jesus said: "Know thy self" it is one of the most important things to learn. So when you feel like doing something that you know is wrong ask yourself: why do I want to do this? Why do I feel this way? What is really going on? This is a path to enlightment about you, God and your purpose.

Much luck to you.

Well, You don't have to do anything but just to keep on following Him. He has created you for a certain purpose and that purpoe you will be able to fulfill if you would just keep your sight on Him. Remember Peter walking on top of the water? He was able to walk on it by just looking straight at Jesus' eyes.=)but the moment he took off his sight, he noticed the waves and he was sinking slowly...
Well, just have HIM in your heart and always pray that He would take away those temptations...=)

In order to be a better Christian or a person of any other religion, you have to be a better person first. Once you become a better person than you can become better in any religion that you practice. God understands that human are prone to temptations but if we try, God will understand, that is why he is GOD.

One way to be a better Christian is to realize that being a Christian isn’t about “being good” or not “sinning” but instead it is to be a disciple of Jesus the Christ, to devote yourself to Christ’s mission. If you love me, you will feed my sheep; by their works ye shall know them, and all of that.

In other words – worry less about the stuff you are not supposed to do – and worry WAY more about the stuff you ARE supposed to do. Live in service to your neighbor, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, visit those in prison – you know – follow Christ. Then you will be a “better” Christian.
