Okay.. I'm an atheist... and I will openly admit that there are some studies that showed that prayer did have a positive effect given two conditions: 1. The person being prayed for KNEW that they were being prayed for (and was sometimes an active participant in that prayer) 2. The person being prayed for was a believer. The positive effect for morale boosting activities is well-known and documented. I don't think anyone can legitimately question that. However, when one removes either one of those two conditions, the positive effect of prayer disappears as well.

Prayer does work, (I can honestly say that it does, from firsthand knowledge. I have seen it with my own eyes.) but it must be the right kind of prayer.
Please read the article I have posted on my yahoo 360* page titled: "PRAYER: God Is Not a Vending Machine....By Vicki Courtney" --- It may serve answer some of your questions about prayer.
God loves you. God loves everyone. God is your eternal father.
"For God so loved the world that he gave up His one and only son so that whomever believeth in his shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through Him" - John 3:16 & 17
God may do one of three things.
1. He may say "YES". and it is done. What you ask for you will get it right away.
2. He may say "YES, BUT IT WILL HAVE TO WAIT". God may be testing you to see whether or not you truly desire it and if you will keep on asking for it. Or the best time for you to have it is not yet at that moment (God always knows the best time for you).
3. Or He may say "NO" because it is not in your best interest or may seek to hurt you or others. (Don't feel sad if He says no, remember He loves you).
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Unbiased....

The Bible is still a good source...
Every Christian that has ever asked Christ into their lives to be forgiven are living documents of answered prayer...
Hope you find these helpful.
Now the question is if you will be unbiased in assessment.

google Lourdes and see what happens. All miracles HAVE to be documented in order for someone to be declared a Saint, and at least three miracles HAVE to be attributed to that person's faith. So. yeah. Lourdes is the most prolific, but there are many many documented cases.

I have seen many examples of how prayer is proven to work.
Absolutely all of them were biased.
There is absolutely no scientific proof that prayer works.
It does, however, have a psychological impact.
If you say a lie enough times, you will come to believe it true.
This is why the military likes young people so much, they are easily influenced, if you say it with conviction.

If you want proof from history of prayerful successes... please do research, there are volumes of them. You seemed to be just a kind of naive or ignorant or uninformed or a doubter or plainly... un- or disbeliever.
I will tell you too this once in your lifetime, while you still have time to change and ally with the Almighty God the Creator of Heaven & Earth........................................................................................
You are dealing here with a God, and not some kind of starstrucked fellow human like yourself. He did not create you ... to doubt a creator, nor make you His lab rats just because He owns you (He`s too good to give you freedom of choice who you want to ally with or even to deny Him if you want to....)
...but just remember, He only wants you to admire His works (the universe & everything in it including your fellow human beings, learn to be Holy like Him (God) as you were root`ly created since childhood, love everything you`ve seen by your eyes, never try to destroy anything He created (God can destroy anything He created because it is His...) and just try to be His (God) best friend for all times sake until your death.
Then you`ll experience... everything you want, desire, hope for in life will be given to you by God (if you ask God yourself sincerely, from the heart in friendly manner)...and never in defiant manner. Never challenge a GOD... or you`re a deadmeat in every way. The only thing we can do is... please "Be Humble" in front of a God.
We are millions of people here on earth, God gives anything of our hearts desire. He gave me (I myself and millions more humans) everything we need, even if it is specifically asked, and no matter how complicated is your situation/conditions` needs, He still will give it to you specifically if it is needed to be given & done...that`s how powerful PRAYERS are for us fellowmen because we have a powerful, omniscient, all-good & understanding God.
Waiting for a "Proof" is useless. We are already enjoying for years in our life the blessings God gave to His faithfuls, we don`t need to print and show to the world... nor to you.
Just ally with God...and your life will be full of happiness, joyfull, peace and blessings...and your future and life after death condition will be assured too (just like the way you trusted your worldly insurance.)
Good luck! and Be Blessed!
