You can do both enlist in the National Guard, go to school and also be paid for it.
The Army NG has The Simultaneous Membership Program, to be in this program you will go to bootcamp first (By going to Bootcamp first, you will skip Military Science 1) You must commit to 4 years of college & The ROTC program, you will be in the Army National Guard as an In-Active Reservist but you will also be an Active ROTC Cadet, while in this status you will be expected to do your normal schooling routine and report to Drill with the Active Soldiers in the guard. During this time you will be paid as an E6.(An E6 is a Staff Sgt. The 6th Enlisted rank.) After college you will be sent to OCS (Officer Candidate School, comparable to Bootcamp) From there you will be commissioned into the Army National Guard as an officer.
The Army NG will also pay up to a certain amount of student loan debt. (If you are Enlisting only, Officers pay their own debts) Once you are Enlisted or in the SMP Program you are eligible for referral bonuses of $2000 for everyone you recruit into the National Guard.

If you can afford to go to college or can get a scholarship, you better finish your college first and decide after if you will continue pursuing military career or any other career that you love most. In any military set up, if you dont have a degree or your just a low ranking guy, definitely your bosses will be too many to handle, If you really love your country and wants to serve the national guard, be a ranking officer so that you can share your knowledge on how to serve & protect your country.

Let's think about this. You say that you are in debt, have over $1500 in bills, and didn't finish college the first time.
Now you have the opportunity to get money for college, learn a good skill, earn a bit of money on the side. You may have to deploy, during which time all money you earn will be tax free.
The decision is yours, but you have to look at it realistically. Are you going to get anywhere doing what you have been doing?

It sounds like college may be a better choice for you.
You already mentioned you dropped out the first time, can not afford it, and can not pay your debts now.
If you join the military, it is not as easy to just drop out, or be late a few times...and the military has seen its share of people who join intending to jo to college, but not willing to work, many of these are admin seperated before 6 months.
And you make it sound like you may condescend to join the military...well the military is hiring, but just cause you want to join does not mean they want you.
They may have their share of pillow fluffers, chair warmers, or whatever else you are willing to put up with to make decent money and get $40,000 tax free college money for.
If you want to get ahead, and take some responsibilty for your future and learn something too...join the military.
I am a reservist on active duty in air force security forces. I joined with 2 college degrees. There is a 24 year old guy that got to the base in january with his degree, and curently the air force is paying for his masters...
good luck

I say join the army national guard. You can get hands on training in computer engineering, and also take advantage of it's GI bill to help you pay for college later on. There's no reason you cant do both.

Got to college an do ROTC. Get the scholarship and run free.
If that doesn;t work out, re-enlist, make money, save it, and pay off everything. Establish a career path within the national guard as it will be your only avenue of a career, unless McD's sounds fun??
Good luck.

Join the Guard if you want to serve your country. Keep in mind that the National Guard and Reserves are going to Iraq just as often as our Active Duty soliders.

It depends, If you want to live a difficult life with family and friends and have to work into college. Or You can enlist in the Army and after your term is over you receive a Scholarship that will support you through college if you don't die in Iraq.
You Choose Buddy.

Finish college then join the army. First if your debt is high you won't get in the army...it's not a debt repayment plan. Second if you get in you won't make it if you can't displine yourself. Third if you have a college education when you enter you'll be an officer and get paid more.

Join the National Guard and earn money to finance your studies. You can still study even when you are already working. It is in the will that you can succeed.
