I am assuming you mean army, or marines? They have satelite phones over-seas for troops to contact their families. Also computers with internet access on most bases usually with aim, yahoo msgr, or MSN... It is pretty easy to keep in contact when they're at a base. I was with someone on a submarine, and the only way he could contact me was through e-mail (w/no attachments) once every couple weeks, months depending on if he could go up to parascope depth to receive/transmit signals. I would post a little more details about what branch of service, and where your husband will be if you can for more specific answers.

confident! if he has no touch with them, she does have the appropriate to call his unit (if she realizes this) and discover out what his tackle is to be certain if he's alive or no longer. I had this take place with a soldier. He in no way wrote his mom so she contacted the command and his NCO pronounced to call abode. purely tell him to jot down abode each and every each and every so frequently. Calling will purely provide her extra administration, so she will purely have ot be happy with an tackle and yelling in direction of the mail as quickly as a week, so she will comprehend her son is alive. MSRJVS is misguided ya comprehend, she has in no way been deployed or in the defense force.

seems to me that the way they keep contact is when and if they are allowed. writing letters seems the military way of contact. it keeps the soldiers quite and reflective and its just the best way of being sure you will have something in writing from him/her. phoning or computer isnt as easy as you might think and may not be allowed always. probably depending upon location etc. you can write as much as you want. peace

It depends on what base he's assigned to but normally soldiers have internet and phone privledges. he should be able to email you often and some soldiers even make online "date" times w/ their wives to chat. That's a great, cheap way to keep in touch. Hope this helps!

He will be able to write and call sometimes. Plus they have computers there in Iraq and Afghanistan for him to chat with you on. You should both open a myspace account as another way to drop a quick message to each other. My sister, brother and I have kept each other up to date that way as well as share photos.

Get an email address. My friend used to email me every couple of days. It was so much nicer than having to wait for a letter.

Most units now have E-mail. Almost every Navy ship has it, and it is almost as good as IM speed wise. Pretty sure the Army does too.

Why don't you have him sit down and make a video for you. Telling you to have sweet dreams and so forth. I don't know if he can bring a camcorder, but he could always send you a video once a month or so.

It depends on where he is deploying to. If he is SF and doing secret stuff, you may hear from him less. If he is going to Iraq, they have computers. Email, video conferencing, telephone, even cellphones work. Just ask him.
