In an infinite universe, all possible circumstances will/have come to pass. Including the repetition you suggest, if it is possible. The catch is, how do we know it is possible? Entropy is one argument against it, but there may be counter-entropy forces we cannot detect.
Then too, it has been argued that consciousness is itself a counter-entropy force.
You can twist your head into knots with this stuff. I know, I was a philosophy major when I was in college (University of Michigan, class of 1974) and my head is quite twisted.
Or maybe it was all those acid trips . . .

Some even posit an endless cycle where universes begin, expand, last for trillions of years, and end, and the cycle continues. Our universe could be one that was preceded by trillions of others, each lasting trillions of years, with some supporting sentient life and others not. Add to this the fact that time and space only come into being in a physical universe and this makes your head spin. Throw in the ultimate mystery of this something always existing and it makes your head explode.

More like amnesia and deja vu, ha ha.
You have 12 trillion hydrogen molecules involved in chemical reactions every second - just in your central nervous system. That's almost as many hydrogen molecules that exist in the entire Sun.
What is the likelihood that every particle in the universe will behave the same way twice? Kripe, I dunno, but I'm guessing the exponent will have a variable.
The oscillating universe theory feels like it is a reaction to this line of thought.

Very nice example of Deja Vu, but the universe is actually expanding and therefor is forever changing growing which makes infinite scenarios possible.
True deja vu is very interesting except for the fact we all do repetitious things everyday and dream. Deja vu would be a great and difficult study

This assumes that there is no such thing as entropy, doesn't it?
The only way I can imagine that possible is if we live in an oscillating universe (big bang, expansion, reversal, big crunch). Then perhaps given infinity you could have two identical cycles. Though in that case, I don't know who would notice.

I agree completely. That is why we are literally all connected. Eventually we will find we are the same. Everything that is true is also untrue. Anything is possible. It's even possible that my last statement is untrue. And so the endless cycle continues!

I don't care what the athiast say.
And even if there wern't a God,
what are they worried about anyway?
We'll all be better off when, more of us believe in Him
I'm not trying to make you believe anything, It's just who I am

"The Universe is a closed system..."
The Universe is expanding at an ever-faster pace - it may not be a closed system.
Good name, there, "Smokerton."
