I need to buy a fishing line # 45 or # 50 60 lbs. Should be a good quality and would spend around $ 130 for 1000 yds (does not need to be 1000 yds on one spool). Any specific brand I should consider? And there are some terms as mono etc. that I am not familar with. I am buying this for someone in Turkey.

Fishing lines are made from different materials but you should stick with monofilament. "mono" It has been around for years and is the basic standard for most fishing. Different materials sometimes require different techniques or special knots to tie on the reels or hooks, your friend may not know them so its best to stick with mono. The most common fishing knots all work with mono.
All mono is not the same. Good mono is consistently the same strength for the entire length. There are no weak spots in good mono. Maxima, Ande, and Trilene are good brands.

Ande fishing line. Ande has little stretch but it holds up well when you hook into a big fish. If you are using bait, Ande is the line to use. If lures are going to be used, Trilene or Berkeley is better because there is more stretch to the line. To buy a 1000 yards spool, for that you are going to need to go to a bait and tackle shop or shop on line.

i think all brands of monofilament are pretty much the same. you should easily be able to buy 1000 yard spool for less than $130. in fact, if that's your budget, you might want to consider getting braided line instead of mono. braided line is thinner compared to monofilament of comparable # test, and it also has almost no stretch. i use powerpro braided line and think the stuff is fantastic.
