problems breathing n made a congestion-like noise whenever she would breath. I took her to da vet and he said she had a pulmonary infection and gave her a shot and some antibiotics for 3 days. the 3 days went by and I ran out of medicine and she wasnt better, so I took her again. This time he gave her 2 antibiotics one for 7 days and the other one for 21. 4 days went by and she seemed to have recovered until 3 days later she started having even more trouble breathing and making da noise again so I took her again and the dr. gave her a shot. he said dat guinea pigs have a narrow range of antibiotics and that he was running out of options, that if these didnt work then he'd take an xray to see if it was fungus in her lungs. I refuse to believe this is everything he can do and that there is nothing elese that can be done, after all his failed attempts Im also doubting about how good of a vet he really is.If anyone knows if this is true or if there is nething dat could work plz let me kno

It's about costs and benefits. I know it isn't about costs and benefits for you because you obviously love your guinea pig and want to fix her up.

The Vet DOES have other things they could do - they could use different or stronger antibiotics (if indeed it is an infection) or you might be able to bring the guinea pig to the vet for regular injections. But all of this costs a lot of time and money. You probably would do better to buy another guinea pig (I know that's not what you want to do).

If your guinea pig has got a fungus infection in her lungs it is grimmer still. This would mean that her immune system to be able to fight disease is poor (and it might explain the recurring infections).

i might take it lower back to the puppy shop and voice your concerns. in the event that they offered you a pregnant guinea pig and did no longer make it easier to comprehend, they might desire to verify it out for loose and make it easier to comprehend, and perhaps you may propose they pay for a vet pass to (as gunieascan miscarriage if no longer healthful and might finally end up desiring an emergency c-section)
