More than going deeper into the subject of chakras... I would advise you to concentrate more on full awakening of the Kundalini. I never went after awakening of my Kundalini. I was simply searching for God. I had a confirmed desire to see and meet God in this very life. My resolve at 15 years of age was absolute. There was no looking back or reversing the path! I had to find God in this very life.
I continued on and on and at 37 years of age I finally realized God. Only after self realization did I realize that my Kundalini had awakened fully unknown to me. Till that time I did not know the full meaning of Kundalini. After realization of God... the dictate I got from God removed all my doubts. I slowly realized what I had accomplished.
The opening of the chakras one after another is not difficult if we practice absolute truthfulness and celibacy as part of our daily life... a daily routine! Absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years is a must for full awakening of the Kundalini. Under all circumstances we need to preserve the monthly quota of energy provided to every human being (men and women) by the grace of God.
Full awakening of the Kundalini results in one reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi when one can have communion with God on one-to-one basis and that too permanently! Traveling the spiritual path is not that difficult as it seems. Neither do we need to leave the confines of our family to achieve worthwhile results! The path of enlightenment is difficult not unachievable!
The opening of Shahastra Pushpa behind the forehead in the brain, experiencing bliss all the time is something that cannot be explained in words! No matter what... every human being has to travel the spiritual path and reach the stage of enlightenment. Whether we do it now in this life or four manifestations next is our prerogative. Who knows what we shall be in the next manifestation! More on Kundalini Awakening - http://www.godrealized.org/kundalini_awakening.html

I think you might have opened your solar plexus chakra! The best way that I can explain it, is when they begin to open, it almost feels like a wheel with spokes turning or whirling around, getting bigger and bigger as it opens. You might be able to feel energy flowing in/out/around. That particular chakra is easiest for me to open, albeit a little overpowering at times. I'd work on the other ones if you haven't already opened them or tried to. It might balance things out a bit, making what you're experiencing more comfortable.

Don't be confused about the chakras. The solar plexus is at the navel, not above it. Its called nabhi chakra or manipur chakra.

I have always believed that the solar plexus is the area of the diaphragm in the middle, right between where your ribs and below where your sternum stop. You can feel it if you push in that area.

Root = base of spine/pubic bone
Second = belly button
Solar plexus - that hollow at the bottom end of your sternum
heart - just over your physical one
Throat - the dip just beneath your adams apple
Third eye - middle of your forehead
Crown - above your head
Hope that helps.
