You are dealing with two different theologies, one Jewish and the other Christian. The two don't have anything to do with each other, except that Christians tacked the Jewish God concepts onto their own and then blended them with pagan concepts (dying and resurrecting deity, virgin birth, 12 disciples, etc.) and then pretend they have a unique religion.
In spite of all that, their God isn't nearly as sweet and loving as they would have you believe. What loving parent would require his own son to die a painful death to forgive humanity? If God were truly loving, he would be able to just forgive people. I can forgive people without killing anybody or requiring blood to be shed, so why can't God? I also would never, ever force anybody to live all of eternity in a pool of boiling, fiery lava to have their flesh burned off forever and ever, no matter how much they made me mad. There isn't anything anyone can do to make me want to torture them like that, yet this is what God will do if you make him mad by not worshipping him. The god of all the cosmos, of trillions of galaxies and stars and planets, gets pissed because a few hairless apes don't worship him. What an insecure guy this Yahweh must be.

God is the same as He ever was, He just has dealt with different people in different ways at different times.
God cannot change
The Bible says in James 1:17:
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning

God was always the same but the revelations changed. According to Christianity the Jews had a partial revelation and Christ revealed the whole truth. I don't agree with this personally but that explains the disparity.

I am not here to preach the Bible, nor am I here to convert anyone. I am here, instead to encourage all to remain as they are. I truly feel that God has a purpose for us all and we are all serving that purpose no matter what religion we profess to follow.
We are all loved for the people we are by God, and he wouldn't want us any other way.
I love you all for your veiws and your differences as does God. Be sure He is proud of all of His children.
God bless.

It is Satan who caused the epic violence of the Old Testament-----Read the book of Job. He is much more subtle today, and his best weapon is his anonymity. But is he ever at work, he is at his magnum opus right now.

Because he was Jewish in the Old Testiment and Christian in the New Testiment.
What that means is MAN wrote and re-wrote the New Testiment to how they wanted it to read. (And continued to re-write the bible over and over again throughout the ages to tidy up and make it read how the higher-ups wanted it to read).

God's the same as he ever was. You check it out! He rewards those that trust him, and he doesn't reward those who doubt him.

man has always "raped" god for their own amusement. whatever man feels like doing he does, then he will try to justify by twisting a scripture.
