I heard the Cato Institue said, "Gas will have to go up to $4.35 before people start changing their driving habits and protest the gas hike." Do you agree...??? How much before you do something about it? What can we do, especially those who need to drive to work, school, medical and stuff? AND for those who's towns don't have transit, or who can't ride a bike 17 miles to town...what do they do?

People who own gas hog SUVS and pick up trucks will buy smaller, more energy efficient vehicles next time. The used SUVS and pickups will be dirt cheap on the used car lots and become very popular with the poor and the illegals. (Based upon what happened back in 73-75) As people switch over to more efficient vehicles, gas sales will stabilize or even go down. So the government will have to increase taxes on each gallon to keep the money coming in for road repair.

The down swing will hurt the car makers such as Ford, GM and Chrysler as they are not ready for the change. The companies such as Toyota and Honda which a ton of small cars already will see an increase in market share. And people will complain even more about jobs going over seas.

PREDICTION: We are headed for one really BIG recession. So big, jobs will be at a premium and people will complain so MUCH about the illegals, the government will have to do something real about it. Look up OPERATION W.E.T.B.A.C.K. under the Eisenhower administration to get an idea of what will happen.

carpool, ride a bike, use public transit, if your town doesn't have any well maybe it's something to consider. not easy or quick, but that's my answer.

gas prices will probably never come down. many experts agree the world has reached, or is at now, or very soon to be at peak production. that means the amount of crude oil that is refineable is limited. so the supply is limited, and demand is growing exponentially with America's automobile fleet and suburban sprawl, and the boom in China and India.

It doesn't I have been protesting for 3 months now, I ride a bike everywhere or walk. How can the person making minimum wage afford to go to work and survive? This is absoutly crazy!

NO ONE is going to protest anything, people complain because they like their voices heard. every year prices go up. back when my grandmother was young, newspapers cost 5 cents now its 50 cents. thats how it is. people will cry forever about the gas prices and keep on using it.

only time i hear people complain is online or television. but in the real world, it doesnt effect anybody

You got a very strong point there, but even when we do protest, do they really listen? we all have been protestiing the gas, the war, and so many other things going on, but who or what is it going to take for them tolisten to us and make it right? cause if you know who that is.. or what we can do to make these things change for us.. then tell me, cause I have seen for too long people protesting things like the gas prices and the other important things and nothing seems to get better. What do we got to do to make them listen? who ever them are.

Just be patient. The oil from Iraq and Iran will be here shortly, then everything will be just like it was in the good old days.
