We do not threaten anyone in serving God, yet other religions do, yet they get respect and christians do not.Could it be the word that we were told of in the bible for the end times?
What can we do to stand up for God without being accused of hate and is it to late to do so? Just wondered what the world had to say , God Bless

Excuse you very much!!! My religion does NOT threaten any one. I have not seen any Wiccans or Pagans in general coming through the R&S section telling others they were going to burn for eternity.

I'm not offended by your belief in christian mythology. I'm just bored.

one thing's for sure - american christians have a persecution complex. part of this is thanks to the writings of paul, et al, in the new testament - when they were writing, christians really were persecuted and in the minority, and christianity was even (at that time) punishable by death.

how times have changed. nowadays (if you haven't noticed) christianity is the norm in america. if you want to run for president (or even dog catcher) you'd better announce that you're a good christian or you'll never get any votes! christians get no respect? come on. try being an atheist (or a jew - or a muslim) running for president - how far do you think you'll get? christians are in the dominant position in this country and yet complain about being persecuted! it's laughable.

you can stand up for whatever you want, as long as it's what you truly believe - and if you can put your hand on your heart and tell me you don't believe what you do simply because your parents and ministers have told you that their view of thew world is all there is, and that's it an that's all, and that's how it should be.

I'll respect anyone's opinion just so long as it's their own, and not the recycled, paranoid rambling of the religious establishment.

Hi. I am a Christian and I think that some of your thoughts sound like generalizations. So I guess my answer is that people of other religions may not respect us because we can sometimes be pushy or righteous..and also because they may fear a message as clear-cut as what is laid out in the Bible. I would disagree that Christians do not get respect, rather, they are possibly misunderstood. When I talk to my non-Christian friends, I try to convey Christ's message through my actions and hope to open up a discussion...I do not shove my beliefs in others faces because I know that this will get negative results. I think that there are some Evangelical Christians out there who scare non-believers away because they feel so convicted by the Spirit to witness...but we should try to witness by example, and be ready for discussions. I don't feel this is a battle...I feel it is a daily opportunity to spread God's loving message.

Lets see ...... you do not threaten anyone in serving your god ...... come again? When was the last time I heard your god serving people threatening me with hell? When was the time last I heard your god serving people threatening to lobby to replace all science with religious study? Not too long ago, isn't it? Or had you completely forgotten about it?

Other religion do not threaten you with hell or to replace sciences with their doctrine.

You can just stand up for your god, no one cares, but if you tried to push down your god onto others, then it is hate, don't you see? You christian fellows causes the problems then blame everyone else except yourself, a habit arouse out of pushing your blame to an imaginary son of an imaginary creature?

Well Hope, for me it is like this. The whole separation of those who are IN Christ creates a large group of people who are OUT of Christ. I have never been able to reconcile my view of God and of the Christ with the notion of bigotry. It has always been a tremendous struggle for me to understand how the God of Grace could callously condemn people who live a life rich in goodness and love (actions) for not stringing together the right sentence (words).

I'm not offended by your belief system or anybody else's for that matter. What I am offended at is when certain people in certain groups start telling me that they are right and I am wrong and that I am going to Hell for it. I also get offended when certain people of certain groups attempt to take over the country and make everybody else think just like them.

Other than that I really don't care if you paint your stomach blue, eat chocolate covered ants and jump naked out of airplanes. It's a free country.

Christians get little respect because so many of them feel that their beliefs give them the right to not respect anyone else.

You want respect, you show respect. That means allowing those who disagree with your faith to live their lives unmolested by Christ-justified harassment and bigotry.

It really is that simple.

I think it's because people feel like Christians are pushy. Because Christians believe they are right, and they know peace (or some claim to) they want to share that with others. It gets interpreted as being pushy or disrespectful. I think another reason is because people seem to think it's crazy for one person to put their faith in another human being. I would lots rather do that than hope for nothing.

I'm not offended but I don't like to hear a lot of preaching and condescension from anybody. I think Christians are actually probably the least persecuted religious group around though, I mean every American president has been a Christian..what are you talking about?

What makes you think your better than all the other religions? Christians cause a lot of trouble just as other religions.

But you DO threaten people by serving your god. By serving your god, you insist that others also believe or you insult them by saying they will burn. By serving your god, you believe it is your right to make others serve him by saying his name when pledging allegiance to a country or adding your god's name to the country's money.

Christians have a sense of entitlement (Manifest Destiny? Anyone... anyone?) that overrules any other belief or non-belief.

Much killing has been done int he name of serving your god.

So yes, merely by insisting god exists, you threaten others.
