I was an atheist because of the churches. I left atheism when I got a better explanation from one church, but left them when it didn't work and found the answers in spirituality and some metaphysics. You have to seek if you want to find and there's so much junk out there. Emotional Intelligence got me to intuition and then I "saw the light". I like Christian D. Larson's book on "The Ideal Made Real: Applied Metaphysics For Beginners" for one. It put's a whole new slant on the Bible. and sacred texts in general and even on Atheism. For that matter on life.
Actually I don't think science is about credibility. Science is a method to question everything. I would imagine that includes science in the questioning. To be unbiased you have to be a-credulous. Not credulous or incredulous. That's the true scientific method. Of course then it's wise to test your belief. I test it by starting all over, not believing anything and answering the question from scratch. I fancy you can see the truth only by getting outside truth and looking at is afresh from credulity or acredulity. It's like getting outside the trees to see the forest.

17 years old. I was 13 when I dropped christianity. I learned about other religions to see if I could find the right one for me. Eventually I started to question if there was even a god or gods. I did the research on evolution and found there was more truth in it than a book that was written before we even developed all the scientific advances in technology we have now.

I am agnostic, which by itself is an atheist belief. I neither believe nor disbelieve, and profess nothing. That aside i became atheist around 13 or 14 when i started looking into science and realized that it didnt jive with christianity. I also have other reasons them being that there are so many religions that how can there be just one right one ? And say we do focus on christianity is the right one, how can we believe what the bible teaches when there are so many mistranslations and additions and subtractions ?

No. I went to faith schools as a child but the christian practises revolted me. As soon as I left school I stopped going to church but after the early brainwashing it takes many years to become a proper atheist and there is always a nasty little bit of the old religion left in the brain which must be guarded against.
It helps to observe the behaviour of believers and how hypocritical and self-deceiving they are.

I became an Atheist at age 9, when the Presbyterian minister couldn't answer my question. 'Why are there no dinosaurs mentioned in the bible?' I am now 37 years of age; and very proud to be an Atheist.

I was raised catholic. But since my mother is an atheist when me and my siblings turned about 10 or 11 we got to choose whether or not to continue going to church, because i was lazy and church was boring to me, i stopped. I later started studying religion and considered myself atheist. Now I consider myself non-religious, I am basically agnostic since I have no idea whether there is or is not a god and I don't really care.

Why can't people all be free to think what they want? God loves everyone no matter if they are liked by others, and no matter if they do not believe in Him.
He knows every heart, for He created us all for a purpose. Atheists are serving their purpose as they are.
I have been so enriched knowing many that do not believe in the lord, and my life would have been less full if they believed in Him, because their beliefs truly make them who they are. You do not need to change them, and should not want to if you truly believe in God. He told us all that he has a purpose for every living thing. Who are we to cast that word away because we don't agree?
I pray for you all, and encourage you to not change a bit.
You are who you are and I love you for it.

Here in the UK hardly anyone is religious and they are seen as a bit weird. There's no pressure to conform to religion unless you come from a religious family. Atheism or agnosticism is seen as the default. People BECOME religious here, not the other way round.
