What happens after you increase your caloric intake after your body has been in starvation mode?

Does metabolism slowly get used to more food and even out so you don't gain weight, or are you stuck with a slow metabolism forever?

after you have been starving yourself for a long time dont just jump to your required daily intake - add about 50cal/day every week so your body can get used to it (e.g. you eat 1000cal every day this week then next week eat 1050cal/day, a week after - 1100cal/day etc), dont eat less than 1000cal/day - its already too little, but its ok for a while till you get where you have to be.
you will gain weight at first but dont overobsess about it - because by starving body has lost water weight and muscle and its gona get all of that back.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain your weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

What happens is your body is in a state of shock when caloric intake increase, so the body pretty much holds alot of the food, and save alot of the fat. Since your body doesn't know when it'll go back in starvation mode.
Plus after being in a starvation mode for a while, your body starts eating your muscles to keep it going. So weight gain will happen very easily.
Sadly, your metabolism will be alot slower, and getting it up again will take alot of time and good eating habits.

You have to increase your intake gradually up to your healthy daily level. If you begin to eat normally after starving your body it will still try to store fat, because it hasn't had a chance to adjust. It is best never to let your body go into starvation mode because it messes with your metabolism and can eventually throw it out sync so bad it could be very difficult to maintain a healthy weight, even with diet and exercise.
