45 days in a prison for a DUI AND driving with a suspended liscence.
This shxt pisses me off especially since my uncle get's locked up in prison for a YEAR with just a DUI.
WOWWW.
When she is asked to take off her clothes for a strip search, she'll probably say something like "I'm too good for you to see my body",
Haha, the guards would get a laugh outta that one.
Plus, alot of people get's raped in prisons, the guards are the one's who do most of the raping in woman's prisons.
So-to my question,
WHY IS IT THAT PARIS HILTON GOT A DUI AND WAS DRIVING UNDER A SUSPENDED LISCENCE AND THEN WHY IS IT THAT MY UNCLE WHO ONLY GETS A DUI IS SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR A YEAR WHILE SHE IS SENTENCE FOR 45 DAYS???

You are right - it is terribly unfair.

Actually she is being treated quite unfairly. Don't get me wrong- I think she and all people that commit that offence should get far more...but statistics have proven that most people who drive with a suspended licence after driving with a DUI only get a couple days to a week of prison.

People should not be complaining about how much Paris Hilton got, but instead complaining about how short of a punishment it is for ANYONE in our society.

here's some articles i found:
"In other words, she'll be in 23 hour lockdown. That's ridiculous. She's being treated more harshly because of who she is. Her sentence was for violating probation while driving with a suspended license. She didn't drive drunk on probation. She didn't hurt anyone. I really doubt anyone else in that situation would have gotten more than five or ten days."

23 days in isolation (2 pairs of underwear a week) is absurd.

There are other mitigating circumstances that might be involved for the short time in jail. Overcrowding and severity of crime is the reason for the short jail time. The state of California has a major crisis in not having enough room for for criminals. Their prisons and jails are very over crowded with inmates. The cost of incarceration is another factor. Usually first time offenses and other mitigating circumstances determine jail time.

For Paris Hilton in this case she has money for a good lawyer, first time offense and some political pull. The only reason she is getting jail time is due to breaking her probation. Other then that she would not be in jail. Most likely she will only serve a week at most because of the overcrowding factor and the requirements of her being isolated from other inmates, because of her celebrity status.

It's the same old story, you get what you pay for. The 45 sentence was probably because the media had picked up the story and the judge thought time in a "prison" would keep the complaining about it to a minimum.

Celebrity status, money and power must not tilt the balance of justice just like Paris Hilton who was given a favorable judgement. People must be given equal penalties with similar offenses under the law.

Because wealthy people pay big dollars to lawyers to get them out of things. It pisses me off too.

In this day and age, the "Constitution" doesn't have a damn thing to do with anything when it comes to the almighty $$$$$ dollar, If you can afford your freedom, you'll have it!!!!!.
WE THE PEOPLE ARE NO MORE, IT'S " WE WHO HAVE THE $$$ AND POLITICAL CLOUT"

I completely agree with you.

Sometimes people appear to be above the law when they are not.
