Acts 15:28-29 says, "it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no other burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and from unchastity."

To clarify - I am not referring to the blood of communion wine. But to actual blood in red meat.

In kosher slaughtering, all the blood is drained out. But in non-kosher, much blood remains.

Nicole - exactly. It says not to do it. So why do Christians do it?

Yes, people. I know what abstain means. It is YOU who are clueless about what I'm asking. Sigh.

And why did the Apostles put that constraint on the Early Church? Because the new Gentile Christians were offending their Jewish Christian brothers by their eating of food
sacrificed to idols, eating blood and meat from strangled animals.
If you read the rest of the New Testament, you'll see that this requirement was only temporary and became less relevant as more and more Gentiles became followers of Christ. Paul actually discussed the eating of meat sacrificed to idols in 1 Corinthians 8,10, Romans 14 - the principle he gives is that eating this or that is a matter of conscience, not law. One should not give offense to others even if your conscience and freedom in Christ allows you to eat.
There are very few in the Christian community who are offended by non-kosher eating (Seventh Day Adventists and some Messianic Jews might be some). However, I would not (and actually have in the past) eat in a way in front of them that would cause them to be offended.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesss, I believe this command to be literally forbidding consumption of blood or meat that has not been properly bled. I would never eat meat that was not properly bled or accept blood into my body through a tranfusion. It says it point blank "abstain from blood." There can be no other interpretation. And this command is binding for Christians. So many so-called "Christians" today are accustomed to picking and choosing which Bible commands they wish to follow. More often than not, many commands in the Bible are ignored for the sake of convenience. Very sad.

This refers to drinking/eating blood and meats offered to idols.
See also... 1Cor 8:1-13, 10:14-21, and 10:27-28. It appears that Christians are allowed to partake of such things, as long as it is not done in connection with idol worship.

Christians believe in the New Covenant between God and mankind, which does away with the old rules about eating kosher food. This new covenant however, while giving permission to eat meat that still has blood in it, does caution us not to eat such meat around those who might be offended if we were to do such a thing. To offend others by the things that we do, whether eating food that God is okay with us eating, is a sin in God's eyes because it could cause the offended person to stumble in their own walk with God by being resentful as a result.

"yet Christians used to consume chickens that were strangled." the place did you get this from? interior the Bible? if so, please provide us the verse. The OT and the NT rules approximately food had replaced for believers in Christ. The Jews that did not have faith Christ grow to be the Messiah nevertheless accompanied the Mosiac rules and nevertheless do at present. The Jews that accompanied Christ and their descendents, Christians, save on with the guidelines the Christ gave us. i individually don't understand what's in blood pudding, never heard of it. As for blood sausage (never ate it myself) yet Christians can consume meat that has been from an animal that has been killed for this is meat for food. we aren't to consume meat that we've stumbled on ineffective from organic motives or whilst 2 animals combat one yet another and one kills the different, we aren't to take the killed animal domicile to consume. purely the animals that we've killed for the only objective for ingesting. it could have blood in it because of the fact perfect after a kill the beef (muscle) nevertheless has blood in it. Like steak. i think of you're questioning of the OT whilst Hebrews sacrificed lambs, rams, livestock and minimize their throats and enable them to. drained their blood. Then their meat mandatory to be eaten formerly Sabbath. That meat grow to be with out blood.

Have you ever butchered a chicken to eat? I have. You don't strangle them you cut their heads off and let them bleed out. Then you gut them after scalding and plucking the feathers. The gutting was the worst part because you have to reach in under the breast bone and pull out everything with your bare hand. I almost could not eat the first one. After that though, they were pretty tasty.
Point is you do not speak with first hand knowledge. I do.

I don't think any Christians knowingly do that. Are chickens strangled or are their necks broken? Doesn't the FDA require that blood be drained from meat before it is offered for sale?

I've had kosher food and it was redish- its impossible to drain all of the blood from meat. For the record, almost everyone eats meat the way 'christians' do.

In poultry we buy in the store, blood is drained out. The heads are cut off and the carcass is drained. Otherwise the meat would show bruising and be culled out.
