There's this company that wants me to pay a 1-time fee of $200 & then $25 per month to get debt collectors off my back, & they can't sue me because I'm on disablilty. But I won't be allowed to make any other income.

Is this $25 going to pay off gradually your creditors? If not, then it is probably a scam. Is the $25 for the rest of your life or until creditors are paid off?

You would be better off going to a reputable credit counseling agency. The one I used is $20 a month for them to handle things and then I paid them a certain amount a month that went to pay off my debts. For this $20/month, they got the interest rate on my credit cards lowered to a very low rate until it was paid off.

If you have a lot of debts that you probably can never pay then you would be better off filing bankruptcy.

Call a bankruptcy lawyer first, they will speak to you and give you advice without charging you.

Good luck.

This agency is a complete scam. They are one of those agencies that scout scout scout and they will take anyone. They then make their money off of you by making you take $1000 mandatory classes. This is how they make their money instead of by booking. A real agency will NEVER make you pay a fee. They will only make you pay for photos to build your portfolio. After you spend $1000 dollars they will try to make you pay $1000 more to take you to Florida for a convention. This is completely unnecessary and every person I know that went did not get any jobs from it. Not ONE person in my class group has gotten a single gig from evolution. In fact, evolution has not contacted a single one of us after our classes except to email us about workshops which they want us to further pay for. DO NOT JOIN THIS AGENCY. A real agency will NEVER make you pay for classes if you ever across one that does this is 100% a scam. A lot of the people the boast on their website found bookings on their own or evolution helped slightly. Evolution does pick a few people who they help and attend to in order to keep up the charade that this is a legitimate agency, but the majority of their models and actors will never find work. If you don't believe me simply find someone who is a part of this agency and ask them if they think you should join. They will all say no.

If you could pay the 200 and 25 a month you could go to a credit counseling program and have that put on your debts.

I wouldn't pay someone just to keep the collectors off my back. If they can't sue.. just tell them you have no money and sorry about that.

First of all being on disability doesn't prevent any creditor from not suing you. If they send the debt to a collection agency or another organization purchases the debt and they are unable to collect they can pursue to collect legally. So that alone is an indicator this place is full of it. Have you tried negotiating the accounts? For example, if you owe $3,000.00 on a credit card try to settle for much less based on your condition (I just did it for my dad who has Cancer.) Or worse case scenario file bankruptcy.

Deal with the debt collectors personally...most of them will work with you on a payment plan. It has been on more than one occassion where I sent in about 3 or 4 payments, and next thing I knew it was cleared from my credit...GL

Because you are on disability, they can't sue you anyway.

If you are interested in paying off your debt, do it by paying $25.00 per month on your own terms. To get them off your back, just don't answer the phone.
