There are tons of programs that do that
Mail clients like outlook have tasks and notes.,,, lotus notes have reminders
Or you could download post-ids that would just be there on the desktop that you could view and edit ..
Google has calenders and notepads and online sticky notes on igoogle.. (there may be many more on igoogle)
or there are downloadable diaries or even online diaries that you may use.. all for free..
If you wanna pay, there musst be betteroptions still..

There is a prog that comes with windows. It's called task scheduler. click start/ all programs/ accessories/ system tools/ scheduled tasks. That will open the task scheduler. It isn't difficult to use at all. I hope it helps.

There are a number of web based calendars that will email you when your appointments come up.
I believe outlook or microsoft calendar also possess these functions in some way or other.

If you have a Mac there is iCal. If a pc you could use Google Calendar or Outlook. There are plenty of online calendars to choose from.
