gen 1: 24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; (not to mention there are several species of snakes)

it means that there were lots of snakes reproducing already before the snake was cursed to crawl.

gen 3:14 So the LORD God said to the serpent: “BECAUSE you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.

Lemme guess...this is what someone told you, right?

No, then I suggest you read these (and other associated) verses again.

From what I read, Genesis does NOT state that creatures were reproducing themselves, but that 'the earth' was bringing them forth!?

Where did or do you get the idea that a 'serpent' is or was a snake?

To me, the logical conclusion is that a serpent is a reptile!? How many kinds of reptiles are there?

Regardless of whether you believe that carbon dating is accurate or not--don't forget the fossilized evidence of an ENTIRE world of nothing BUT 'reptiles' existed at some period of time in our earth's history, right?!?!?!?

Were's all the fossil/historical evidence of (warm blooded) 'mammals'?

Ask yourself why is it that there was SUCH a strong presence of "reptiles" in our earth's history--versus 'warm blooded mammals' who carries their young during gestation, and gives birth versus "laying eggs" and having them 'hatch'????

What was REALLY going on with all this--and all these 'serpents' (or reptiles). Why were they 'wiped out'?

Could it possibly be linked to the Garden Of Eden story and the 'curse' placed upon "the serpent'?

Regards,

The snake was actually a symbol for one of the other nations that sorrounded israel. You can see how humiliating your enemy country's "offical god" can be done if your writting your most holiest of text. Sort of like the founding fathers accusinf King George the third in the declaration of independence.

we really don't know. but all those snakes were kind of like lizards up until that point. not just the one. they had legs before they were cursed.
