Get all the blankets and pillows in your house together and build a fort in your living room.
Play hide and go seek (it's not just for kids).
Bake a cake or some cookies together.
Have a 'camp out' in the living room with sleeping bags and some good Disney movies.
Use your imagination..

I hear ya. We have five children 13, 10, 6, 5, and 2 and it is really tough! We occasionally do the big stuff like movies and vacations, but the cheap and fun things are hard too because of their ages. We go to the park, we make a fun dessert like smores on the grill or ice cream sundaes and sit on the patio with the radio up loud. We shoot hoops, do sidewalk chalk, blow bubbles, turn on the sprinklers and go wild, push them on the backyard swings, go on walks, etc. There isn't really a whole lot to do without spending some money. Kids today are too high maintenance. When I was a kid it was fun to go for a ride in the car. My kids hate that.

Thats a great idea and really sweet to bring your family together by doing things. You can have tons of fun together without spending a lot of money, thats what we do! Here are some ideas!
- Go to the Park
- Puzzles
- coloring/drawing/painting
- walking
- flying a kite
- the zoo
- get some chalk and draw on the concrete outside
- buy a disposable camera & go to different places around town & take fun pictures
- rent a movie
- fishing
Hope some of these ideas will be helpful for you and your family!!

When I was a little girl I remeber my family would all sit down and play sharades or eye spy (with my little eye) If you are not familiar with the game the rules are simple: The person picks something in the room-anything- and everyone tries to guess what it is...Thats probably not too much fun for the 6 month old though...well drawing is something that i used to love to do with my parents. We didn;t have alot of money but I think that we had more fun than the families who take their kids to DisneyLand every year or go on cruises. The fancy stuff is great dont get me wrong but bottom line you don;t need money to spend time with family..all you need is eachother- I know it sounds cliche but its true!!

Our children are 4yrs apart also. At that age you must have the older become more involved with the younger sibling.Do fun things with the oldest all of you get in the floor together and play games. Help the oldest to learn how to spell, math all of that stuff but do it in the floor all of you together and it will transfer as the kids get older we still all get on the floor and play games and laugh its a good time it helps the family bond we also can talk about the day and see what is happening in there lives as they become older and we have found that there friends enjoy getting in the floor and playing also. It can be realy fun and allows us to be kids again for a Little while. Hope this helps but it works for us.

My husband and our 3 girls (10yrs, 22months, and 8months) have a VERY tight budget. Now that the weather's nicer we've been spending a lot of time at the park. I like to collect things from nature w/my 10yr old and make a collage. You can use anything! We try to find as many different types of leaves as we can, then take them home and try to identify them either w/a book or on the Internet. We also like to watch movies and "veg out." Playing in the sprinkler is always fun, and the kids have an absolute blast washing the car as well. It doesn't ever get very clean when they do it, but getting covered in suds and allowing your kids to spray you w/the water hose is always a big hit!

Pack a picnic and go to a park.
Get some chalk crayons and "do" the driveway.
Buy some bubble soap and blow them away.
Go to the zoo. (NOTE: check your zoo to see if it's in the system that allows you to go to a whole bunch of others for free if you're a member)
Walk with the kids to a favorite treat place (e.g. ice cream store, vegetable market.)
Do a lemonade stand.
Get a card table, pull the cans and boxes from the shelves and play "Grocery" with monopoly money.
Work together on a puzzle.
Make pancakes together.
Take them to a local baseball game (free).

Games, drawing, story telling, jokes.
Go camping, fishing. Go for walks. Family time isn't about money. It's about spending time together just talking, and laughing and telling stories.
Make up a play. Watch a movie. Talk about things you like. Make things with each other. Build something together.
