It means you are officially considered a Saint by the church

It means that there has been significant proof through miracles that that person is in Heaven and has been granted favor from the Lord by interceding for someone. In this way the Church knows that they may pray and ask a Saint for their intercession. The Church realizes that many, many people are in Heaven who we don't know nothing about and technically they would be termed Saints too but, for the practice of veneration they canonize with ceremony so the whole Church recognizes the holiness of one person who went the extra mile and fought the good fight.

Canonized means added to the official list of persons the Church regards as saints. Of course everyone who is in heaven is a saint, and canonization doesn't "make" someone a saint. It is just an official recognition by the Church of the personal holiness of certain deceased members of the Church.

It is an official process where the Catholic Church declares someone a saint.

However, the Church teaches anyone in Heaven is a saint. It is just that some people after thorough investigation have led the Church to declare them a saint. All saints including those who have not been officially designated are our friends in Heaven.

That means the Roman Catholic Church decided she is a "Saint".

What is interesting about her is that one Pope declared her a heretic and she was burned alive at the stake and another Pope decided she is a saint.

If both men were getting direction from God . . . . why the very different opinions of her?

Obviously one of those two Popes was a fake and fraud. Or perhaps they both were?

Only the real God knows for sure.

It is the process of having them officially declared Saints. The Catholics have to decide to claim that they really performed miracles etc.
