I am Hindu and don't wear/posses the stuff made of cow leather. In Hiduism cow is non-killable and holy animal. Is there any way to recognize/find out the stuffs made up of Cow leather?

Please use above note before answering the question. I see people are thinking that I can't wear any leather item. That is not the case. I can't wear ONLY the items made from cow leather.

This we realise is a major issue as it also aplies to moslems with the influx of pig skin onto the market.
Unfortunately with the naked eye it is often imposssible to tell what type of leather you have. We train technicians to use a microscope which will give a clear indication.
About 95% of all furniture will still be made of cow hide but there is now a lot of pig skin available.
A lot of clothing will be made from other sources and it may be important to ask questions in the shop as they should really be able to find the answer for you.
Good luck

Genuine leather articles usually have a tag on them somewhere that says "Genuine leather." Shoes will have a label on the box listing if they are made of leather or man-made materials. Generally, if there is no label saying that something is leather, you can assume it is man-made. Some synthetics look like real leather and if there is no tag or label (like if you bought it at a yard sale), then you can't always tell the difference right away, so if you're ever in doubt, just don't buy it.

New merchandise should have a tag on it that identifies what kind of leather or synthetic material the item is made of. Belts. purses, and shoes come to mind--all three of which should be readily available in another kind of leather, imitation (man-made) leather, vinyl, resin, or other synthetic material.

The other side, or flip side of leather is always suede.
I really respect you. I often, all my life, have thought, why we all don't just run around in cotton garments?
Why did I ever eat an animal, any animal?
With all the fruit and vegetables of the Earth.
If I had it all to do over again...

Leather is a high-price item; almost all leather items will be marked as such.
Check tags and stuff.

Normally the shop keeper will inform you what kind of leather being used. If not, you can always refer to the tags or or brochures.
