No it is not an effective way.
In the early days of the religion, Christians were tortured for the Roman spectators because they were cheaper to obtain than the exotic animals and fighters.
If anything, it merely gives the impression that the religion is cruel and unforgiving.

Many native tribes who were forced to convert by colonisers could not understand the cruelty with which they were treated. I once read an old article where one person even said, the white people have a cruel religion, they even torture their God. (the image of Christ on the cross).

The way to bring sinners to repentance is to have them see their mistake and understand the error of their ways..

Not true saving repentance.

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

But what would you expect from a religious organization that has been corrupted by a union with this world?

Personally, torture does nothing but prove that humans cannot solve a problem without resorting to violence. What good does it do? does torturing set the right example? Brutally attack someone to prove a point. Should we torture people who are pro-violence and do violent acts? However, I am biased in this, sometimes I think I am for torture when I see the news about pedophiles, rapists, etc...and I think they do deserve to be put through torture =\ Complex, isin't it?

yes yes it is. This is because you're just repenting to an invisible thing is space, so there's no proof of repentance, it's not like you get a receipt or anything.

The tactic apparently has been adopted by Islam and Marxism, and is done on a daily basis.

Remind me to lend you my copy of the Malleus Maleficarum. It's VERY specific re: torture methods.

Sigh.

That's God's way of doing it. Actually, he tends to torment after the person makes the mistake.

No, they'll only fake it to get you to stop torturing them.

Try concentrating on your own spiritual development and stop trying to devise ways of forcing other people into accepting your unfounded, superstitious beliefs!

Go ahead thumbs-downers, have fun doing your superiority-dance while you give me the thumb! :-P

Bible code? Oh my my my...you actually FELL FOR THAT?
Aren't you aware that it is a mere form of belief which has its roots in gnosticism, which the Apostles had warned against? STUDY!
