I'm wanting to buy a bicycle to get in better shape. I am considering the Trek Navigator 3.0. I also like the looks of the Schwinn Deluxe 7 Cruiser but afraid it may be to heavy and bulky. I'd like any suggestions.

Hey Brian,

-The TREK and the Schwinn are two totally different bikes. But you mentioned that you want to get in shape, so I would choose the TREK Navigator. The TREK Navigator is more towards the comfort bike line, but it would be a good bike to ride on and off road for excercise. (When I say off road I mean flat fire roads.) It has good 8 speed components and would be a bike you could use anywhere. Also the TREK has a front suspension shock and rear seatpost shock for a smoother ride on and off road.
-The Schwinn Deluxe 7 is more of a beach/boardwalk cruizer. It only has a rear coaster brake, but it has 7 speeds. This Deluxe 7 is very Retro and Stylish, but it is heavy and bulky. You would look totally Bitchin cruizin down the boardwalk with this bike.
-Now I would also choose the TREK, because they are a way better quality bike than Schwinn. TREK has a lifetime guarantee on the frame and 1 year on the components. Schwinn is made in Taiwan and ?
-Both are about $500 retail. I would definitely choose the TREK. Just my 2 cents. = )

I got my first Trek bike for my 16th birthday and I road that bike for 9 years!!! I never had one single problem with the bike and the only reason I sold it, for 70% of what it cost new so the value held strong, was because I was moving across the country and needed to sell everything. I've been debating buying a new Trek this summer vs a Schwinn or ***** Sporting Goods bike and after doing a lot of research I believe Trek is still the best bet. The 820 or 3500 series are great for the average commuter or trail rider plus they won't break the bank!

The Schwinn looks like a cool retro cruiser, but the Trek has way better craftsmanship and is better for exercising.

Yeah, definitely the Trek. I would look at possibly getting a hard-tail mountain bike if you are looking to get in shape. But between the two, I'd have to go with the Trek.

I'd go with the Trek. That Schwinn looks like it was made in the 1950's.
