Why not your "partner"? It sounds more grown up than boyfriend, it isn't fiance, and it implys you are equals in the relationship. Sounds good to me.

Nothing wrong with boyfriend. I'm 42 and call mine "boyfriend". Calling him "Lover" is just too much information. No one wants to know that much.

I dunno my boyfriend and I are very close too and it sounds so weird calling him "just boyfriend" you know? Girl, when you find out let me know! Maybe your lover or something.... just keep calling him boyfriend and later it will be Hubby!!!

I don't refer to my old man as boyfriend... rather I call him my "old man". boyfriend has seemed kinda childish to me...
