A man is at a bus stop with a kitchen chair, why?

I don't know the answer. Has anyone heard this lateral thinking puzzle before? If so, what's the answer?

I know that the chair was broken, but he was NOT taking it to be fixed.

He was taking it to somone, but wasn't going to give it to them.

The occupation of the person he is taking the chair to matters. The occupation of the person with the chair does NOT matter.

The man does not own a car because their is excellent public transportation in the city he lives in. He has only one kitchen chair at home because he lives and eats alone. He is at the bus stop with a kitchen chair because he now has a girlfriend and needs an additional chair for her to sit in when he invites her to his place.
