one of the two must be true about god (i would think)

A) god is baised, and only heals sick people who other people have prayed for. in otherwords, if prayer determines who god heals, then that implies that god >would< not heal someone in need just because no one prayed for them. that doesnt sound very benevolent does it?

B) god disregards prayer when deciding who to heal, thus directly rendering prayer pointless.

SO,either god is not benevolent, or prayer is pointless, you choose...

Prayer is great. Here is why.

It keeps all the little deluded people in a happy state of delusion, and makes it so much easier for the intelligent members of society to exploit them.

Read Brave New World. Prayer is soma, and theists are Deltas.

God is not bound to answer how we want. It is His choice entirely. Many forget this and try to make God into their own genie. It does not work.
Consider that Paul the Apostle prayed three times to be healed of his problem, but the answer came back in a negative.
We can always ask. But, you need to know how, and why, prayer works.

If you do not think that God's mind can be changed, then you haven't read the Bible very much.

Indeed there are times when it is God's will that the person die, Moses for example. He had to wander off in the wilderness and die so that the people could claim their promised land.

But most of the time, a person is not a major player in the big scheme of things. God will listen to the pleas of His children.

God does not heal. He gives man the knowledge (doctors) to assist in the healing of a body. God does not cause nor does He prevent illnesses or tragedy's. God is always with you...to strengthen you when you need it most. Try prayer when in need and you will find the answer in your mind (soul).

Good one! If you wanted something, but you never mentioned it to anyone, would it make sense for you to get angry at your father because he didn't do it for you? But if everytime you turned around, you were throwing hints and bugging him about it, you'd have a better chance of getting it! If you still didn't get it, then maybe it wasn't in your best interests to, even if you couldn't see that at the time. Don't think that just because someone is saved, that they have it ALL figured out. We're only human. Many humans believe many things, and make up many things for other humans to believe, too. Read the Bible. It might not be your cup of tea, but then again it might!( and there's some pretty good action stories in it too.

You took some ideas out of the equation though.

Perhaps it is in the BEST INTEREST of that person NOT to be healed....and no matter how many people prayed they still wouldnt be healed. So, the prayers are not disregarded....they simply are prayers that are not in allignment with God's will.

God heals "physically" whom He choses to heal phyiscally for His good purpose, for His reason, not anyone elses.

He came here to heal our souls, not our bodies.

He answers prayer, yes or no, or in His time, and no one elses.

He knows your prayer before you say it, He likes to hear us commune with Him, and because we don't get everything we pray for , well He says "We know not what we pray" but He knows what we really need, not us.

He will lead us into trials to see if we truly depend on Him or not.

Read the book then "criticize your Creator Who has "already" told you of His Character and what His thoughts and intentions are towards us. (hint) Jerimiah, you read, I have.

I'm amazed at statements people make "trashing God" and haven't even read God's word, just words of love towards us all.

prayer is not pointless at all..God is not biased not does he disregard any ones prayer. he hears all, He does not heal everyone, instead He takes them home. The person will no longer suffer.

G-D has his reasons for the lives of certain people and taking back the lives of others. If you choose to view that truth as proving the pointlessness of prayer, so be it.

God answers our prayers. Sometimes the answer is simply "no". God has a plan for each and every one of us. Sometimes we pray for the wrong things. God in is infinite wisdom knows that and answers us with a gentle "no".
