Lets face it when girls realised that only women could give birth, the boys knew they couldnt do anything even close to that, so they said to the girls....."you see all those stars, my father made all those.his name is God"..... and the story has been passed on for centuries.

Back when religion was young, the sacred She was more commonly worshiped. We have archeological evidences for Goddess worship being the earlies form of religion. This is because, yes, it was the "she" that brings forth life. However, the more mascular men, for reasons burried in the anus of prehistoric time, were suddenly threatened by the female sexuality. We don't know how the men took over and the women allowed them to, but soon we see the female sexuality being demonized along with the sacred She. The He, on the other hand, was uplifted, put on a pedistal, while the She was burried in hell.

See how we men are scared of you women. In Chinese philosophy, there is a yang and yin, the positive (male) and negetive (female!), respectively. In Norse mythology, the Aesir was mostly male, while in the giants, there were many females. In Beowulf, it seems that the main villain was not Grendel but Grendel's mom! Hebrews seldom mentioned the name of females in their chronicles while they mention the name of every single man in a line. In British legends, wizards were mostly good while witches were always evil. Some Africans and some Islamic states practice clitoridectomy, to get rid of the sacred She manifested in the female sexuality. In Victorian society on onwards, nymphomania was a disease. A woman enjoying sex was ill, a maniac guy was normal.

The academic answer to this is "demonization". It is what happened to the sacred She, while the sacred He was "deitified".

Wellllll....the bible does say that "God created man in his own image" which leads most to believe that would make God a man. Other than that im wondering if it also has to do with man being placed in authority over the church and women?(past tense) and if only men could have been given this authority then in order for God to create the universe and rule over it, would then make him a........"He", and as I understand women can only bring forth life because eve was created from adams rib, which means man was first. Hope it helps, good question.

I have actually wondered this myslef. The most likely cause is the time and culture it was written in. How many girl authors were there at that time? Not many. Personally I have always prefered to think of God as a woman. Kinda weird having a man with a son. But he (sorry) is a spirit right? So it doesn't matter. My second preference to my image of God is a blinding light. Don't have to think about it then.

I don't know. How about we say all men out of religion and government immediatly and we set up a Matriarchy. The budget could be balanced, everyone could be fed and we'd only have serious world crabbiness every 28 days and that could be solved by some chocolate and some Midol.

God is spirit and is genderless... by the way, The word
"mankind" in the bible is inclusive of the feminine gender as well.

Obviously, when He visited our planet,he came in the form of a man...It is just used as a descriptive....much easier than saying Genderless instead of He.

A woman gave birth to the Son of God....that's one point for your team.

Whether you like it or not, feminine forms of words are generally derived forms. Masculine forms are often simple roots in many ancient languages. Masculine forms originally were base, or simple words, that doubled as masculine, when gender was mentioned. Judaism and Chirstianity never said GOD was male. The feminine form is never generic, so it can't double as such.

God reveals himself that way.All through history ,cults have wanted a mother figure to worship from Semiramis ,to Isis,to Juno, to Gaia,Mother earth and now Mary.(Who would be appalled).
Even the Mormons say God procreates with a mother god to make all the souls that will take on bodies later.
I'm sorry God says he is a "He" but that's the way it goes and Satan has been trying to get our eyes off him ever since.Becaus eeveryone loves their Mom,right?
Any religion that tries to take your eyes of God and Jesus as final arbitrators,is a cult.
It's always the skin of the truth ,stuffed with a lie.

Because men created and wrote the texts that make up the religions.

People who wrote those religious test were men, that's why. And no God is not a woman. God is one of a kind, it's asexual, just like you don't label jellyfish male or female, you don't label god.
