Your hair shouldnt be getting thin and dry if you're young
I see this all the time...its quite common
Have you ever considered the fact thats its your water that you shower with making your hair dry? Hard water (water that has too many minerals) drys out hair and causes hair loss, because the minerals plug the hair follicles causing it to fall out, thus the hair thins.
I had a water softener in my house and it STILL wasnt enough, so I got a water filter installed along with the softener and my skin and hair have never felt better.
Just something to think about.
Other than that...are you heat damaging your hair alot? Use treatment conditioners and leave them in for 20 mins. Eating fruits and vegetables and lots of them will give you all the vitamins you need to maintain healthy, shiny hair.

To have healthy hair there are a few vitamins you can take. Prenatal Vitamins, Multivitiamins, B Vitamins, and Biotin all help.
You also have to look at what you are doing to your hair. Any kind of heat styling is extremly drying and damaging. Flat irons especially. If you want to use them use a good protective spray.
Also doing oiling helps. Many people have the best luck with Coconut Oil or Jojoba Oil. Just take a little and concentrate on your ends and the length of your hair. Do not overdo it or it will look oily. You can find these at health food stores. What I like to do is take an empty spray bottle from my Tressemme heat protectant and put in 1 to 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of EVOO. Then I fill it up with water. I shake it before I use it and mist my length almost every day. It keeps my hair very soft but never looks oily.
You can also try the CO and CWC methods of washing your hair.
CO means Conditioner only. What you do is take a cheap light weight conditioner (Sauve, VO5, White Rain) I reccomend VO5 Vanilla Mint Tea Therapy Clarifying Conditioner and apply it liberally all over your hair. Since they have the same detergents as shampoo they clean your hair but it takes longer. Put on a shower cap and let it sit about 15 minutes. Then rinse really good for 5 minutes. Then condition the length again with a heavier conditioner you like.
The CWC method is Condition, Wash, Condition. You apply conditioner down the length and then with it on shampoo the scalp. Then rinse and condition the length again.
There is a board called the Long Hair Community where I got this info and began using it. My hair is def. better. Check it out:

Oh and don't listen to the poster who suggested baby shampoo. It is really not any gentler just formulated to not burn their eyes. It can actually be vary harsh on some peoples hair.

First off, stop using ANY hair products except shampoo and conditioner... that means no styling moose or gel, no hair spray, no hair bleach or dye, NOTHING .... get yourself a nice BABY SHAMPOO---it's very gentle to the hair yet it cleans it rather nicely...... Get yourself something called PANT ENE RESTORATIVES... it comes in a tube and looks like it's toothpaste.... (it's not)... Put gobs of this stuff in your hair after washing and rinsing the shampoo out... then let the Panting Restorative product sit on your hair for AT LEAST AN HOUR then rinse it VERY thoroughly.... NO curing iron and NO blow dryer .. just brush it and let it dry naturally....it's really the only way you can stop it from being so dry and brittle...if you cheat even ONCE and use any other hair product on your hair, you will defeat the purpose of not USING anything on it... you'll have to do this for quite some time because if your hair is as damaged as I THINK it might be, well, just take as long as it needs to make your hair better... Also, eat a good HEALTHY DIET... you know the drill---stay away from the fast food and enjoy some VEGGIES and 100% juices and FRESH fruit....you won't need to take PILLS if you have good eating habits and stop using JUNK on your hair..

a good hair products only help so much, first don't wash your hair everyday, take a good brush and spend 10 minutes brushing it this will bring the natural oils out of your scale to take care of the drying, for awhile lay off the dyes and blow drier,as food foods or vitamins eat a variety of good foods, fresh foods, raw veggies.....lay off the foods containing white sugar ....will take about 3 weeks to see any changes but well worth it
