Most people can't leave theirs out for more than 5 minutes untill they've had it for more than a year. At 4 months, it's not healed yet (Lip piercings take 6 - 10 months to fully heal). If you need to take it out for a few hours, get a clear retainer to put in. they cost less than $10 and you can find them at your piericng studio.

I've had my Labret done twice. The first time I took it out because of a job interview. the second time, I had a 14 gauge in there, and my husband bought me a new horse shoe to put in it. I took my stud out, and while it was out, I took the horse shoe out of the package (which was a struggle!) and then had to unscrew the ball, and it was stuck so it took me a few minutes. By the time I had the ball off, my piercing was closed. It took, literally, 15 minutes. Now my labret isn't pierced anymore!
The thing about the mouth, is that there are all sorts of enzymes and such in your spit. The mouth always heals the fastest. even for piercings.

Any piercing regardless of how old it is can close up in a matter of minutes or a matter of hours depending on your body. If i take one of my 8g. earrings out for more than 15 or 20 minutes they are painfully hard to get back in, and I've had them for 3 years.
My suggestion is to get a clear or flesh colored retainer to wear when you don't have your regular jewelry in. It will prevent the hole from closing and make it almost unnoticeable....notice, I didnt say make it invisible, lol. Some retainers for some piercings look ridiculously weird.

ANY PERICING CAN CLOSE NO MATTER HOW OLD IT IS.
there are people who get their nose pierced and take it out 3 years later and it closes. that's what your body is supposed to do when it has a hole in it. you shouldn't be trying to get a job somewhere where you cant have a lip pericing because this is going to be a serious problem. any time you take out a lip periceng it will start to close immediately.
