They don't have any bobble-head Jesus' or anything like that , but you can get stuff blessed by the pope.
You can actually buy a medal with the pope's face on it.

Black propaganda. So what if the Vatican has a gift shop and sells those things? What is wrong with it?

"I tell you, on the day of judgment people will render an account for every careless word they speak. By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." - Jesus, Matthew 12,36-37.

You may not realize it but whenever you say these things about the Catholic Church you are actually doing us a favor. First of all, it gives us the opportunity to refute the accusation and prove who is on the side of truth. Secondly, if I were looking for a religion, I would be wary of a Church that uses black propaganda and dirty tricks to discredit other religions. More so if it calls itself Christian. Have you seen Buddhists bash other religions? Have you considered the fact that this might be the reason why westerners are attracted to this religion? Have you ever wondered why name-calling is hardly used in commercial advertising? The answer is obvious: black propaganda backfires on the dirt digger.

Jesus warned his Church that there would be people like you who will persecute us. Your persecution also proves that we are the true Church. He also said we will be blessed by such persecution. So, thank you!

"Happy are those who work for peace; God will call them his children! Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them! Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you because you are my followers. Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted." (Matthew 5, 9-12)

May the Lord's peace be with you!

In 40 years of travel about the world I have never been to anyplace that has even the tiniest bit of historical importance that did not have a gift shop.

In Augsburg Germany there is a gift shop where you can buy "An Authentic copy" of the Augsburg Confession suitable for framing. The shop is part of a "Historical" Protestant church complex.

Yep, and a bank, and it's own militia, which happens to be one of the oldest in the world, and a post office... it is a city after all.

Wow. I'm stunned by this revelation and the implication that the Catholic church is about wealth and power! Anyone else?
