In your question you ask, can God make you righteous like him. But i am asking a question in return. What is righteous? like the question, what is perfect this has no answer, as the meaning of these two words often mean different things to different people.
Some say that God sends down Prophets, people who proclaim faith and are thought of to be holy, many people claim to be Prophets and may well be, but how do we know if we are a prophet? Do we know that we are a prophet because God tells us up in Heaven, or is it a quiet thing, were you don't know what God has given you and you go around being simply holy?
many people think that you must be saved to be with God and have his power and love and if you do not confess your sins that you will go to Hell and have a bad afterlife. I chose not to believe this, i think that all Gods children deserve to Go to the Kingdom of God and be with him and be loved by him.
We are all righteous in our own ways, although we may sin every day, you need not ask to be with God but only to believe and worship.
Go with God

He made us as divine as He is and we also have the ability to disinherit it. His righteousness is the image He created in us, our ignorance and arrogance is what made us doubt we have it. It is easy to go the other way because oftenthines there is more pleasure in it. Our human mind always rebel to an order, always curious to what is forbidden yet oftentimes afraid to discover the unknown and content ourselves to believe in what the society have agreed to be the standard even if in our feelings there is still a need for improvement or change. We become a complex being out of the simple decree which God have created us for.

We do not have the ability on our own.
God said: Romans 3:10 "...as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one..." (In the Psalms)
But we are called to TRY.
1st Peter 1:16 "...because it is written, Ye shall be holy; for I am holy." (Leviticus 11:44)
Our only hope is through Jesus. he has promised to help us when we ask.
John 14:13-14 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask me anything in my name, that will I do."
John 15:3 "You have been made clean already by the teaching I have given you."
John 15:7 "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it."
Thank you Jesus - for your help.
Peace.

I personally do not belive in god as everyone in my life does. I promote peace and have a completely happy life. I just can't wrap my brain around the fact that a single entity is capable of so much. Also, the bible to me is an insanely exaggerated story.

No. Logic dictated that unlimited power is impossible. It is the source of the question "Can God create a rock so heavy that he cannot lift it?", or any derivation of this question. Unlimited power is not possible, so not all things could be done.

Well I think of my deities as sort of passive as far as the roles in peoples' lives go. I mean my people (that's what I call my gods and goddesses) shouldn't have to bother with trying to change their people (us guys down here). I think we have free will and no deity can mess with that.

People think that any being powerful enough to create the universe must be the most powerful and astute being ever. God created the universe, therefore God is the most powerful being ever. Fallacy, anyone?
