Your subconscious is actually your whole brain working without preconcieved notions. It is totally unbiased and looks at everything. If you only use descriptive words and not judgmental words like good or difficult you are more in tune with the brain. It also thinks in pictures so 2 thoughts give you a picture. I find that it either comes so fast and you dismiss it so fast that it gets away from you or if it comes more slowly it's the second and third thoughts that give you a picture or better idea, because the first thought is your reasoning. Most answers I've read here are right on target. Many say if it sounds right, often it's not intuition. The first intuitive thought doesn't sound right, but the second clarifies it. I like the idea of clearing you mind and just asking the question. Then ask about that answer and it gets clarified. Then I like to test the idea. The subconscious seems to work on fact, so getting information and asking where to look. At that point your probably working with the whole mind pretty good.
What blocks it is our reasonings, prejudice, other peoples opinion and 'education'. It's worth reading up on the subject.
With a job you have to find out what you actually do in that job and if you can live with that. What kind of people will you be working with. Self employment give you more freedom while often a large company offers interaction with people and promotion possibilities. Taking a course on careers did me no good at all. It was all a left brain attempt to reason out what is too complicated for the conscious mind.
They say that the intuition is always right and I tend to agree. It's like the output of a calculator. You wouldn't manipulate a calculator until it gives you the answer you want. You shouldn't do that with the subconscious either. It's a calculator that does human calculations for life and has all your personality, hopes, dreams and feelings in it. You might say that it's made for life issues. Hope you do well.

Is that GUT feeling God? Spiritually the inner instinct is usually is God, trying to tell us something.
Spiritually we are lead by our inner voice, because we know that we are being lead by God but, it is the distinction between what we want and what God wants us to do, that is usually the cause of the confusion and so we struggle with the final decision, even through we know what the decision should be.
In the flesh we are tempted by many worldly things that can be misleading. Sometimes knowing, that God is a merciful and forgiving God, we will make selfish decisions and justify the reason why we choose the route we choose.
You didn't give any details about the career decision that you are trying to make but I think you are pretty sure on what you should do.
Each day is a new day but it is also another day gone by. Make a decision on how you choose to spend your days. There will always be 2 decisions to make the right decision and the wrong decision. The outcome will determine which one you made.
Put it in prayer. You can't go wrong with that. God Bless!!

This is a tough question. The gut feeling is based on instinct, intuition, and emotion. Some say that this is your true self speaking, your compass, your guide, and you should always listen to it. However, we have logic and experience that are also valuable guides. I'd say that the best decisionmaking takes both the logical and the intuitive faculties into account. You are a complex, marvelous, unified being that works best in an integral way and not by separating heart from brain. There is a choice that satisfies both. Trust your instinct but also consider the hard realities and necessities of life. This process is called discernment. It takes time and effort. Above all, trust yourself. Good will surely come to you.

You are the only one who hears that inner voice. Sometimes you need to make a decision and find out a little later if it was totally correct. Your decision is based on partial knowledge some times.

Before providing a possible answer to your question, we first need to establish and/or agree on a definition of terminology, etc.
By many standards, when you speak of your "inner voice" AND (what you characterize as being) your "inner instinct"--you are essentially talking about two different things.
In most religious/spiritual traditions, when they speak of 'the inner voice", they are speaking of a 'higher self'--a 'holy spirit', etc.
When they speak of "instincts" this is typically recognized as 'genetic, environmental--cultural and societal programming.'
When you speak--or when the term 'gut' is used, typically this is referring to the 'solar plexus' chakra; which is the 'seat' of emotions and/or desires--or one of them.
So, if you are 'listening to' or 'paying attention' to your 'gut', you then are essentially listening to/paying attention to your emotions (desires) only. This may or may NOT be 'a good thing'.
However, the adage of "my heart isn't in it" does indicate that a feeling, desire or emotion coming from "the heart center/energies" is something that needs to be part of any decision that you make.
The ideal situation is when both "the heart" (energies) and "the mind" (mental energies) are in agreement.
Generally speaking, your true 'inner voice' does NOT give counsel in personal matters; but only gives instructions that are for the benefit of all--or 'the group'.
This does NOT mean however, that one cannot receive revelations, promptings and instructions as it relates to their personal life--but again, unless these choices involve the 'greater whole' (mankind, etc.), then again, you probably will not be receiving instruction from your 'higher self'.
My point in explaing all this is, that this does NOT mean that you should NOT seek 'guidance'--you should. What I am speaking to/about is a level of confidence and/or expectation--more accurately--the fallibility of the 'voice'--which requires something called "discernment" (or differentiation) as to understanding where these things are actually coming from.
You may also receive 'promptings/instructions' from a variety of other sources as well--to include what is sometimes referred to as your 'super brain' or 'super consciousness' which has a LOT of good information which is available for/to you. But again, this is NOT technically your (true) 'inner voice'.
One way to help you know 'what is what' is to simply "think and reflect"--or contemplate what has come to you about this matter.
One criteria is to determine whether your decision will take you in the direction of "SELF" versus in the direction of "SELFLESSNESS." Who will benefit? You or you and others?
This does NOT mean to exclude yourself in your decision making process, as there ALWAYS needs to be something in it for you. The idea is to 'strike a balance' so that ALL 'win".
Your job is to listen to all, weigh it, contemplate it...
...AND THEN MAKE A DECISION!!!!!
If you make a 'wrong' decision--no worries. Test it out and see if it's working or not. If not, then you can always make a 'correction.'
The bottom line is, is that ANY decision (made by you)--right or wrong is better than NO decision--or a decision made by someone or something outside of yourself.
Regards,

For me, it's asking for what you need or want and then listen. And it just comes. I guess that's why they call it spiritual. The answer comes clearly and from your spirit and you just know. It's the first thing that comes to you. It isn't a conversation, so much because that's when your ego is getting involved and that will confuse you. It's your higher self, your inner voice, your spirit guide, the Holy Spirit. Whatever you choose to call it. What is comfortable for you in your own belief system. I'm a recovering Catholic so it took a lot of 'letting go of fear' for me to get as far as this. It is truly a peaceful place to be, for me.

Your inner voice is basically your Sprit Guide helping you out from a remote location in heaven. It's also your own self concious remembering your "Blueprints" that you made for your life plan before you were born.

What ever the first answer that comes out of your mouth without thinking about it and before the "but"... that is what your gut is telling your... Example: (On a date) I want to kiss her (that is your gut), but what if she doesn't want to be kissed (brain).
Get it?

Well your inner voice, or intuition is easy to read. If you feel any discomfort it is probably not the right choice. If you feel comfortable and the voice is loud then you are probably going in the right direction.
Blessings

Go with your first instinct. Your gut is instant but your brain has time to work things out, go over the pros and cons, blah blah blah. Your gut is usually right =].
Good luck!!
