Faith is dangerous and offensive, but not in the way you think.
As Christians our faith tells us that we all share a common bond, sin. We all have a common goal, salvation. There should be no race, creed, or sex. We should seek out this salvation with fear and trembling.
Nations will come and go borders will be drawn and re drawn. There is nothing special about where you are born. Each has its own problems and challenges. Americans have become soft and lazy because these challenges have become laughable for the most part. Other cultures are still killing and fighting over various things. Food and water is scarce and they do know what "I am starving" really means.
So I find it sad that you do not place your relationship with the creator of the universe more important than a patch of dirt that has only been America for two hundred years and most of that was not sea to shinning sea until much later. Heck, even if you are not Christian I find it slightly disturbing that your philosophy plays second fiddle to your location.

I am a Muslim first and then an American. Frankly as far as I am concerned ALLAH(SWT) and Islam come before my citizenship. Please explain how that is offensive and dangerous. I know that as a Muslim my first duty is to ALLAH(SWT), second duty is to my husband, third duty is to be an American.

Your faith defines who you are. In my faith, there are no other gods before the one true God. That means nothing comes before Him. My family comes second. Somewhere after those come my church, my country, my fellow man.
I'm not a danger to anyone, and I can prove it. I had a standard psychological test last year that proves I'm not a danger to myself or others...LOL.....true, I swear.
Sorry if you are offended by that. I do love my country and am totally loyal to it. But, God out weighs everything else in life. The rest falls into place behind Him. I admit, my family probably shouldn't come second, but I'm just being honest here. If I had to sacrifice family for the sake of country, I think I would, but, we'll never know unless it happens, will we? I certainly wouldn't begrudge my country for taking a son or husband or brother to war, though I would be in much prayer about it. I see that as duty for our freedom. Perhaps in that, you could say my country comes before family.

I am an American.
I guess the reason is two fold: The way I was raised,I remember sending cookies to my uncle when he was in Vietnam. I learned to shoot a gun with a shot gun my great uncle sent back from WWII, he didn't make it back. I could go on but you get the idea.
The second reason is I have traveled to countries that are not nice places we have it good here. I don't take for granted what I have here.
My faith is an ever changing journey.

Monotheism, mainly the Heavenly Religions (Islam, Judaism and Christianity) were initiated from the same Divine source, God...
Government and human laws, including the Constitution of the United States of America, are completely man-made, and originate from an elevated human thought process.
Which would you uphold over the other?
I choose my faith first, then my family, and then my country. My country made it in the top three, and so I regard that as very good!

I'm an American not at all...but given the chance I would be!
I believe that religion and politics make poor bedfellows. I am deeply religious, but also deeply patriotic. I find it really sad that something which is designed to make people be better (ie religion) and make them happy is the cause of so much misery and suffering. I don't think that patriotism is designed necesarily to make people better and happy. I think that its purpose is to give people roots and a foundation...a home.
I'm not one thing first and another second. I'm all me.

I think it's just as dangerous for someone to think of himself as an American "first." How about think of yourself as a human being first? How about not defining yourself by the religion you were born into or the country you were born into? Those weren't conscious choices, and it's not like it's any kind of achievement. Think for yourself, make your own sensible choices, and leave nationality or religion out of it.
And, please note: this country was NOT founded as a Christian nation. The founding fathers were very careful NOT to do that. Many of them were not Christians but considered themselves deists. Jefferson wrote an essay regarding the divinity of Christ--he didn't believe in it. Neither did Washington.
So, some of you wonderful Americans need to learn your history.

i find it dangerous and offensive you are a nationalist first and a whatever second.
Lets look at ww2 shall we.
Axis- all nationalists
Rape of Nanking, Holocaust, Barbarossa, stuff like that.
Allies-
Russia- Communist but had the whole Slavic nationalism thing
Killed many people, read about the NKVD
Why is America the "good guys"? they have done many terrible things and should have to earn the title through honest toil, which they are progressing on (not at the best pace).
Is not America supposed to be a Christian nation? they founded it like that, so i could point to the founding fathers if i wanted to.

It is not dangerous and offensive. Why would you feel this way? Do you think it is offensive to put GOD first in your life, seeing that it is only he that gave you life?
I am a muslim first, second and third....American last....
