The new F-150 trucks are really nice. Get one with the 5.4L Triton V8 and automatic transmission. I drove one home from Washington State to Idaho and averaged 24MPG loaded with military gear.

You can't get the truck in a manual unless you buy a single cab f-150 with a v-6.. no more v-8 option.. and no more extended cab version in manual (have to go to super duty for more manual options)

The 5.4 is a good motor but the three valve is still having some teething issues IMO... I own a 4.6, that even though it has some less power than the 5.4, I get better gas mileage and is good for overall driving (commuting, occasional hauling, etc) IMO... I'm getting 18 MPG city/highway on a truck with a 4.6... most I know with the 5.4 are seeing 15s

Depending upon the room you need, is what amount of doors to get on the truck...

Your current truck is pretty good. Better than my car, better than most peoples' cars. If you want a new Ford you should probably buy one soon because Ford is going to probably be out of business in a couple more years. Everybody will be driving Toyotas. Also, when Hillary is president there is going to be a carbon tax, an alternative fuels tax, and a global warming tax, gas prices are going to skyrocket, and I also predict that after a few years there will be greenhouse emission laws which only allow hybrids and ethanol vehicles on the road and strictly-gas powered cars will be prohibited. Everybody will be driving around in battery powered cars and flying in battery powered 747s. So maybe you need to wait on the Challenger and see if that happens, see if gas is still available in the next few years.

If you are going to purchase a New Ford F150, then I would go after the 5.4L 3V Automatic. Make sure that you get the vehicle with a 3.73 limited slip rear axle. This package will provide your vehicle with aprox 274 RWHP; excellent towing power; good highway fuel economy; and the only 1 mpg loss compared to the 4.6L engine.

The V-8 is more reliable than the V-6

if you will never change trans oil like many people do then get a manual trans, and manual trans if you shift correctly you will never have to give service instead of the automatic
and for the engine size, well that's depend on what type of cargo you will carry, V8 will help with heavy cargo but poor gas millage
V6 will help with the millage but low power when get heavy loads
is up to you !

Depends on priorities. If you're interested in gas mileage, v-6. If not, v-8. But the v-6 doesn't get subsantially more. If you plan on ever towing anything, v-8. I'd also get an automatic.

Personally, V-8 all day.

a manual will give you better gas millage but an automatic will perform better. personally an automatic.
a 6 will give you better gas millage but an 8 will perform better. personally a 460 ( I have one with 245,000 with no problems) all original. nothing on engine needed replaced or fixed. and it only uses 1 qt of oil at about 2500 miles.

If you buy a Ford, I'll kick your ***.... Don't think I'm kidding either because the last person I know that bought a Ford is still in the hospital... Was it Fords' terrific engineering that put him there??? Or was it the beatings that came from me and all of his other friends, upon learning of his poor judgement and general stupidity in buying Ford not so tough, that put him there???
