No, definitely not. Razors were not invented back then. The women did not shave their arms, legs, armpits or down below. If they were unlucky enough to have a mustache they couldn't do anything about it either. . .

Yes. Hair on the body was considered unclean, so even men had to shave the body before they could enter the Holiest Room of the Great Temple, to be free of the bacteria it collects, and remain clean after initial cleansing. But they did not wear make up, though they did use skin care products.

Starlake is unaware of the Jewish grooming factor in Biblical times, for men and women alike.

As for Jennifer, remember, we're talking about Biblical women, not foriegn women in their times. KOsher is still a big deal to Jews now as then. They washed frequently, and prepared pots, pans, utensils, meat, with great attention to cleanliness. In fact, much of the ancient hatred of Jews came from outsiders too lazy to imitate their standards, and wanting to cover up their failure to be as clean with ridicule that Jews were too washed.

Veritas, you're right on!!!! It's true. Jewish women's legs were seen only by the husband. A man - except if he married a divorcie - knew that he alone had ever had the great priviledge to know his wife, from top to bottom, inside and out.

I can't answer definitively, However it is possible they did. Shaving is mentioned in the bible, for men, beards and heads. Also, people aren't so much different in any other aspect from the ancients, we probably tend to sell them short in many areas. They certainly had more time to devote to themselves than we do!

I dont think chicks shaved their legs back then. I really dont think it became popular until recently actually. Without the technology of a razor it would be pretty tough ...

Back in the old days women were hairy and smelly, just like men. Sorry to burst your bubble.

No way! Do you have any idea how dangerous that would be with a straight edge razor? *shudder* No.

I'm not sure they had proper razors in those days, and they didn't bathe as often.
