Leave her alone. She is probably very self-conscious with you telling her what to do with her legs. She probably is not being stubborn, she just isn't used to it. Give yourself two weeks without mentioning it. Then you can let her know that you gave her a two week rest to see what happened. I don't really understand why you want her to cross her legs. She can sit like a lady with her legs together and her feet to the side without crossing her legs and she will be perfectly fine.

I think you're totally obsessed with this. Which is fine as long as it affects you, but if you're truly pushing your daughter like this, please stop! Allow her to make her own decisions on how to sit, not everyone's the same. Some people are more comfortable sitting one way, others are more comfortable another way, enjoy your own manners but don't push your preferences on your daughter (or anyone else). Being too pushy about something is bad manners (since this is the etiquette section :)) and also it often has the opposite effect of just putting people off and making them less likely to do as you wish.

She's 10 ... why can't kids just be kids? If the worst thing she does is not crossing her legs like a GROWN up, the problem is?
She'll do it when the time calls for it. Women as well as girls know not to show off their underware.

maybe she isn't comfortable having her thighs touch that much....

could you try having her turn to her side and cross her ankles?

i really think that crossing her legs will come later as long as she's learning the habits of being a lady

actually crossing the legs is not good for circulation. just encourage her to keep her knees together but don't push she'll just push back.

just keep doing it in front of her and then she will catch on and maybe you should try not nagging just be like "i'd really appreciate it if you crossed your legs. you look so grownup when you do"

How is she sitting? As long as she is not sitting with her legs apart its no biggie kids like to sit how they feel comfortable. I understand you feeling frustrated but if she is anything like me she won't do something just because you and your hubby are pushing her to lol.

teach her to cross her legs at her ankles instead
still ladylike and less chance of developing spider veins and varicose veins as an adult
