People with different points of views is the essence to a sane society. I really like to discuss different points of views but I admit I can't be a little intolerant to fanatics in religion or politics.

I can't say I "appreciate" it when people question my beliefs but I enjoy talking to people about their beliefs and trying to understand why they feel the way they do. My issues stem from when I feel that the person is not just questioning but try to prove me wrong and convert me. It is a very thin line and something I am working on...not being judgmental.

I don't think ignoring different beliefs helps you (or me) in any way. Ideally different beliefs wouldn't hold any significance so you wouldn't need to ignore them.

I welcome a good debate concerning the logic of my beliefs as it either helps strengthen them or causes me to look at them from a different perspective.

Their logic may help me to redefine my basic beliefs which I can then feel stronger for and debate on a higher plane.

If their opinions are completely opposite of mine then I listen to determine, for myself based on my knowledge and experience, if they have any basis to support their beliefs or if they are just blowing smoke in an attempt to pull my chain.

I have learned that there are many side to any belief. Some have a lot of merit and others do not. It is then up to you to decide your own logic to live by.

1. I do appreciate their questioning the logic of my belief. Their criticism helps me to make my message clearer.

2. I would rather they ask intelligent questions rather than ignore me. I have something important to say, and want them to listen.

Hi Wayne,
I really enjoy good discourse in religious matters. That is the main reason that I am here as well as to answer other's questions. I would prefer that they NOT ignore me. However I do not generally appreciate highly negative responses. Have a wonderful evening and a glorious weekend!
Thanks,
Eds

Sarcasm is the problem. Nothing wrong with people having different opinions about any subject. Conversing about a topic and viewing it from different angles is good also. But when someone attacks someone else as though they are stupid for believing what they believe, well that can get out of hand. Like it does on here a lot.

It is by questioning that we make sure of our faith or any belief. We grow in understanding by asking questions and answering them. Complacent people and beliefs are like statues. They wear down and fall apart.

Ask and we both learn hopefully.

If they're honest they'll question the logic of their own beliefs also.
