You're basically alluding to the soul when you say deep seated and inherent. So if you deny your soul, you are basically denying yourself, but the thing is, you can never truly extinguish yourself, so you can never truly become nothing or evil.

Faith isn't deep seated or inherent in us. God gives us a portion of faith to believe in Him. If we make that choice, our faith can grow from there. It grows by stepping out and trusting God, though you can't see the answer. This is what makes a seasoned Christian.....years of trusting God, when there was no visible way to go. Waiting on God until the last possible moment, when He always comes through. Knowing He will take care of everything, even though it seems impossible.
All humans are given the small bit of faith it takes to believe God, because He loves us all, and wants no one to perish.

Faith is not within us. Faith is a gift from God that we should pray for.
