Women can be Army Medics, although they cannot be COMBAT Medics. whether or not the Army needs non Combat medics at this time is unknown.

BTW.. Navy HM is also open to women, although at this time, there are very few, if any, slots available.

N O, Contact a US Army Recruiter and get the latest information on that!! The Medic might be closed to women for Combat Medic, but I am not too sure on that either!!

I believe "combat medic" in the Army is still restricted to men, but women can be non-combat medics. The Navy has a "medic" rate known as Hospital Corpsman. They can serve combat duty with the "Fleet Marine Force", but as far as I know only males get deployed for combat.

A woman can become a medic. She may not be in combat, though. Medics also serve in hospitals and medical centers. It is my understanding, though, that there is no longer any military job that is not open to women. There are several female fighter pilots now. Now, the Army and Marines will be the last to open their slots to women. You might find it easier in the Air Force or Navy.

There are many fine women serving in the Medical Corps today.

I suggest you visit with, or telephone your hometown military Recruiters for the very latest information. (A visit is best when getting your information.)

Right now, start making a list of all the questions you can think of. When the time comes, take your list of questions with you to the hometown military Recruiter and "pick their brain" to ensure all your questions are answered.

Also ask what types of high school courses you would also need to graduate high school, which would be to your advantage for your potential future job, when enlisting in the military.

By medic I'm assuming you mean Combat Medic, MOS 68W. It is still closed to women as of Dec 2006.
