while she is by herself at a workplace....does it mean that she is interested in knowing me more?
P.S. I mean it is a she is a student working at a university so no biggy about the work place.

What is She, and what are you? Maybe she wants to get to know you, maybe she just feels safe with you around. If you're a cop, and you like her, take charge of the situation and hang out with her! That's how I got my girlfriend!

It might be for safety reasons. Maybe she does not feel safe being alone at work.
Or, like you said, she might want some alone time to get to know you...but without committing to a date yet.
