I understand what you are saying, but I don't think it's valid as the god concept is something they get taught.
My children, growing up in an atheist household (2 & 4) don't look for a reason behind existence or look for a creator. They have no need for concepts. But their mother is their protector.
My ten year old has been brought up the same way. Exposed to religious ideas at school, she just thinks it all sounds really silly.
