When you have a knowledge that goes beyond understanding, it make it hard for people who want to believe they are intelligent,
to understand that we have something that defies understanding.

The primary difference between Christianity and most other religions (Judaism, Islam & Hinduism in particular) is that Christ's followers feel somehow compelled into trying to bully other people into following their beliefs.
When was the last time a Jew or a Hindu knocked on your door (disturbing your day) to bring you the "Good News!".
Christians mostly infuriate by bothering people, and by ramming their cult-ish beliefs down other people's throats...
And now the Muslims are doing it too.

FDR in one of his fireside chats asked if you had a water hose and your neighbor's house was on fire, would you loan it to him? He was trying to get the OK to give arms to England at the time, but the principle is the same.
The world is in deep trouble. People are in pain everywhere. There are a lot of false Christians out there shouting; causing even more trouble for people.
Does that mean that true Christians must stay quiet when they have something, in fact the only thing, that can help?

I don't have a problem with the way Christians think, I just have a problem with them imposing that thought process into science or logic. God defies logic by definition, and science can never prove or disprove god, again by definition (when you have a perfect, immortal, omniscient being who can do or be absolutely anything, you can never insert that into any kind of scientific or logical framework).
If Christians just wanted to believe because it enriches their lives to do so, that's fine. But when they start telling me about prayer in schools and teaching creationism and other ways of imposing their beliefs on others through a pseudo-scientific or pseudo-logical framework, that's what I have a problem with. They can believe whatever the heck they want.

They can believe whatever they want as long as they don't try to force thier beliefs on me. The problem is that many christians feel it is their duty to "save" me or other non believers. This is what infuriates me.

I think it is unfair to lump all Christians into one group. Not all of them are bad, I mean 50% of the world is Christian.
I had one friend that apparently did not know I was not Christian, because one day I wore a pentacle to his house and he politely asked me not to wear it in his house. He tols me he had other friends he has also said this to and he had no problems. He thought that I was being out of line for not wanting to do that. I told him he had betrayed our friendship for acting like that. After a while we got into a religous debate, I got upset and left. I have not talked to him since and he has not tried to call me either. I heard from other friends that he believes that I do not like him because of his religion. I told him and I will tell you:
The only thing I disagree with is that he asked me to remove my religious artifact in his house. I do not tell my Christian friends to take their crosses off at my door. But it is because like him many Christians do not try to educate themselves about other religions and the fact that the religion and media tells them that Pagans are all wrong and evil, That is what upsets non-Christians.

Because despite the claim that 85% of people in this country believe in God, when it comes to serving God, most people do not believe what the Bible tells them about the way they should live. This makes them, according to the Bible, children of Belial. They hate God. And they hate people that believe enough to live it.

To answer your first question.............They hate being wrong?
And letting people believe what they want to is exactly what the Devil wants. He loves to have people doubt! Once there is a doubt, he can get his foot in the door and force it open.
