NO, its not wierd at all. The thing to remember is that it will go away. Sometimes it helps to have a watch or clock nearby to watch the time go by. Have you ever put a rubber band on your wrist and then you can pull on it, that will help.

You should talk to your MD or meet with a psychiatrist and they can prescribe you a medication to help you when you feel this coming on.

I know it sucks its scary you feel like your heart is going to explode. Its kinda like the fight or flight reflex... for some reason your body picks up you are nervous or stressed and it goes into overdrive and your body thinks its in extreme danger.

Its usual to want to be by yourself. Do yourself a favor and get an appointment. Cause, a lot of times these attacks will last longer and get worse if you dont take care of them

Good luck....... and remember you are not alone......

This is normal. Panic attacks suck and you head for wherever makes you feel a little more comfortable.

You might try behavioral therapy to seriously reduce the attacks. As an example, if someone gets panic attacks in the elevator, there are exercises that involve exposing them to elevator enclosure (controlled and under supervision) for two hours at a time. Pretty soon, they can ride an elevator from here to the moon. Except there are no such elevators.

Not at all. Trust me. I have experience with panic attacks. Unless you have a close friend available that you can talk to and calm down with, being alone, even in the bathroom or even, if it is possible, under a shady tree is not bad at all. That is actually what I do most of the time. Good Luck!

I have to get to my wife when I have a panic attack. She can calm me down. Fortunately, the Lexapro and Xanax and Klonopin I take have the panics well under control. I hope you've got meds you can take when you get to that bathroom at work. If not, see a shrink. Meds are a lifesaver.

If i'm at home when mine hits I usually lock myself in the bathroom or just climb into my closet and shut the door. I don't like anyone seeing them. I never told my husband I had them. About two months into our marriage I had one and hid in the closet, he found me there and freaked out and called my mother at work because he didn't know what was going on. She told him to just leave me alone and it would all be fine. He is the type who wants to hold me til its over. We've been married five years now and I don't really have that many of them anymore.

God Bless

No, you just feel the need to be alone. Nothing weird about that.
However if you are having a lot of panic attacks you might want to seek professional help. You cant live like that forever.

Bless your heart! I had panic attacks for years and they are absolutely the worst!! I tried everything but nothing worked until my doctor prescribed Paxil and Xanax. I have not had a panic attack in five years!

I don't know what I want when I have a panic attack, subsequently I end up pacing and trying one thing after another.
Smoking is what I do usually.

It is not weird at all, we all deal with this type of things in different ways and if that works for you is ok. Do you see a therapist? They are good because they will tell you that is not so out of the ordinary and what you do to deal with it is ok.

Good Luck
