We should not be surprised that everybody has a god in their society. Our God puts in every heart the desire to know Him.

Ancient text is constantly being mistranslated. Dead languages, Latin and Hebrew to an extent, are not practiced on a wide scale, particularly in composition. So you're right about there being mistranslations in religious text. And even older ones contain even more errors. But they're insignificant errors for the most part, but there will always be some mistake when humans are doing anything.
But despite religious text being somewhat mistranslated, that doesn't prove that there is no god and what religions doctrine holds to be true is in fact false.
Life and its delicate balance could have not happened by mistake. It is literally impossible for the chain of events that lead to the current life to have just happened. The laws of physics state that something cannot come from nothing. In order for their to be a result, there has to be an initial action. A creator had to of caused the inital fire cracker that would eventually lead to right now and ultimatley the future.
Now that doesn't make Christianity, Islam, or any other monotheistic religion completely and utterly true. There will always be some human instigation in any situation, and religion is no exception. Religions expresses the general guidelines, don't kill, don't steal, respect your neighbor, try to be a good person of morals and ethics, etc., because they all come form a common origin and historically that is the god that gave Abraham the Covenant with the Jewish people, which is not religious dogma, it is historical fact. And the Hebrew, stateless people, had these ideas and the "eye for an eye" mentality, which is expressed in both the Bible and the Quaran.
Ultimatley the movements that initally started these religions had to have had an instigater that taught certain values and notions of a creator, which is vulnerable to human influence. But just because the religious text may have been partially mistranslated doesn't make the truth at the end any less of a relaity.

So we're getting smarter, watch some stuff on youtube or jackass and I would say not. More people are dropping out of school then ever. Look at the romans and greeks if you want to talk about human intelligence being at an all time high. Jesus never said to follow rules to get to heaven. Thats every other faith. The funny things is, science just seems to back up God, and more evidence just seems to confirm the Bible. You said that these words were just handed down. Yet the Bible hasn't changed. You can go to Florida to the Scriptorian and see Bibles in the 100's, and nothings changed, or what about the Dead Sea Scrolls, confirming the Old Testament?

Quack..quack....what am I?
If I sound like a duck, walk like a duck, and swim like a duck...am I a duck? No. I am a man. There are too many other evidences to give it away for anyone to come to a logical conclusion that I am anything else. If you wish to stretch the imagination and rule out all evidences save those three you may conclude that I am in fact a duck. But you would be incorrect. So, how much evidence beyond that do you need? Some may need one more fact, others may need one hundred. The amount of evidence needed to convince anyone of the truthfulness of a matter varies from person to person.
That is how Christianity is based upon faith. Enough evidence is presented to those the Holy Spirit chooses to lead that individual to make a choice. The evidence will be sufficient to convince, but the decision to accept is not forced. After acceptance there will come temptation for the new Christian to stray right along with new evidence to support truth. The decision to remain in Christ is not forced either. This indicates that the truth that lies within the heart of a Christian is far greater than non-believers expect, and it is impossible for them to grasp before acceptance of the simpler truth that leads to salvation.
The evidence you seek will never be found in science. You are studying the lowly ant in an attempt to understand the laws of thermo-dynamics. You replace the light bulb in your lamp when your i-pod does not work. And you demand scientific evidence to understand the spirit.
It would be far easier to understand why something does work than to understand and repair why it does not. The void that only God can fill will never be filled with a bang or a descent.
Christians grow. They are not made with all knowledge. The impulsive behavior you observe in many are due to youth.

O K so after you applied your intellect and asked that question you came to a conclusion which seems to satisfy you. I, on the other hand, came to a different conclusion.
Let's leave the matter of who has a stronger intellect aside for a moment and compare conclusions.
I, as a rational being came to the following conclusion:
Nothing happens by itself so the creation of everything must have been done by a superior being.
We humans keep evolving emotionally, intellectually and surely someday we will learn the Creator's intentions for humanity.
In the meantime we must be grateful for what we have, that is,
most of us have an intellect to work out problems we are facing in everyday life. About 2000 years ago a human being called Jesus (for want of a better name) thaught us a set of values to enable us
to live better and more peaceful lives.
He thaught us to forgive our enemies and love everyone.
If we keep only those two commandments then there will be no wars or atrocities committed by anyone.
Those things are worthy of consideration.
I don't understand the rationale behind your words when you say ... surely a sign that there is no god as religion believe...
So please explain to me what you mean.

I diagree in your final analysis. The disagreements between specific religions or interpretations does not have anything to do with the existance of God. Religions (all of them) are made by or at least controlled by man...not God....not Jesus. It is man who has set up the traditions based on his or her interpretation. God is very real...and for those of us who are not tied into a specific religion but instead have a personal relationship with our creator, his ways are easy to know. I can not honestly say that if a Muslim has a personal relationship with his God called Allah, that Allah is not in fact the same one I call God.

Have you studied the bible? when I first started reading it seriously, I was about 29 years old. I read Romans chapters seven, eight and nine over and over. It took me about 2 years to really grasp the meanings. Before that I thought there were contradictions, but as i kept studying I finally saw how it was truth and all fit together with no inconsistencies. I'm not the sharpest knife, but also not the dullest, but I kept at it because I wanted to understand. I say, forget our "all time high intelligence" affecting faith in God.

Your argument is okay, but just because many claim to be true doesn't mean that all are false. And alot of religions believe in reincarnation instead of Heaven and Hell.

Do you really believe you are more intelligent than God, who made you ??? Is the light bulb smarter than it's inventor ???
In case if you do believe you are smarter than God ,just be your own God. The bad thing about it is , that all of us have to die and meet our Maker and I feel sorry for you when you do , if you don't change your mind any time soon.

Six guys claimed to be the father of the child of Anna Nicole Smith. Does that mean the child had no father? Your postulate is flawed. Try again.
