Jesus described in Matt. ch 24 various things we would have to deal with today as the people back then did after he was gone. One on them was false prophets would come in and mislead many. They would perform many powerful works in Jesus' name but Jesus would tell them, "Get away from me. I never knew you."
His true followers would be united in one voice of faith and belief where ever they are in the world.
This is why.

Many Christians have very different interpretations of the Bible, and some of them totally ignore what some parts of the Bible says. It would be interesting to learn the languages of the original manuscripts and interpret them for ourselves. I know there has to be a lot that was lost in translation from the originals.

A certain family knows basically about the family but, each individual community knows that much more about their own immediate family. This is true of denominations too. There is a small amount of the "Joseph's Brothers Disorder" going on but, it will be fixed on the last day.

Christians all believe different things because they interpret the Bible differently.

there are too many factions , Judaism stated it , Christians split from them , Roman Catholicism were conceived from a vast majority of religions under one God , Lutherans split from them , Adventists split from born again Christians and then you have evangelicals , agnostics the list goes on and on and on
And to its very core , It's how the pastor interprets the word of God , There are no upper echelon ( like catholics have ) to decide what is cannon and what isn't and how to preach .

Yes, that is why Christ created one Church, the Catholic Church and prayed that we all be one.
