I have had some back pain in the upper left of my back it seems. Is this anything serious?

Depends. Did you do something to hurt yourself? Or did you just sleep on it funny? If you didn't do anything like fall, or have an accident to injure yourself most likely it's just stiff. Kinda like what happens when you get a stiff neck when you sleep in an awkward position. Take some Advil, use a heating pad for 20 minutes a few times a day. If that doesn't help at all see a chiropractor.
