This may be a simple/stupid question, but with temporary license plates, are they not valid on the day displayed on them? Or is that the last day they are valid? For instance...if my plate says June 2nd, and I'm driving around on June 2nd with that plate still on there, will I get pulled over?

Well, the dealer was supposed to mail my title to me, but he sent it to the wrong address. I bought the car in a different state, so I have to drive down the day my temp plate expires to get a new plate. I'm just hoping if I get pulled over and explain my situation, the cop will let me go with just a warning.

In most states the law is clear. The temporary plate expires and should be destroyed when you get the permanent plate, or the date written in the "Expires on" section of plate. If it says "Expires on June 2" and you are out there driving around on June 2nd, and an officer on patrol notices, you will be stopped. It has been the full amount of time given to get your plate, so why isn't it on there? If you waited until the expiration date of the temporary to even apply for the permanent plate you might as well just park it, since in most jurisdictions you only get one temporary.

You can purchase a trip permit, allowing you to drive to register the car. The temp plate the dealer gave you should have been dated 6wks ahead of the date of purchase. If your plate/tabs didn't arrive by that date, you would need the dealer to issue you another temp, at their cost.

the day you get your temporary plates is the first day they are temporarily valid. you have three months after the date on the temp plates to get your permanent plates. if you bought your car at the dealership, they are suppose to process your temp to perm plate for you, meaning there suppose to call you when your perm plates arrive.

i would just call the dealership and ask them how the temp plates work to become permanent...

You might. You should have your plates before that happens.
