Our government seems to remember our troops during memorial day, and while in a comflict, but can not improve the quality of life of those that have served us proud.

What are you looking for, ticker tape parades on every holiday. I don't see our veterans as people who are looking for hand outs because of their past military achievements. Most people who have served, simply want the privilege of pursuing their own goals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Some of us would like to have just one mulligan. The one time freedom to kick right square in the @ss, the liberal of our choice !

I don't know when or if you've ever been on a military installation. There is new housing going up all the time. The troop billets on most of the installations are new and if not are being renovated with all that a military person could ask for. It's come a long way in 23 yrs. (that's how long I've served). Dining Facilities have everything that civilian restraunts have, Morale Welfare and Recreation has anything and everything that you can think of to do. The quality of life in the military is great. Yes the civilian population remembers us on Memorial Day, but we do have great support from them as well. Those that protest the war...well...nuff said...Morale in the military is off the charts. Remember this...everone in the military (all branches) have volunteered ... there aren't any more draftees currently serving...

The way your question is worded is not totally correct.

The U.S. Government has on-going programs, continually upgrading the quality of life programs for the military.

Also, the way your question is worded, I would imagine you heard complaints from a person who would never be satisfied, no matter what they had.

For example; when I entered the military back in 1973, being stationed at Fort Hood, I was in an 8-man barracks room, bathrooms down the hallway.

Nowadays, Soldiers have two-man rooms, with bathroom co-lated between two rooms. Some of the rooms are even two-man rooms, with their own bathroom.

And here in South Korea, Soldiers still complain about being in two-man rooms, sharing a bathroom.

Basically, they're not happy because they don't have one-man rooms with their own private bathroom.

To sum it up, spoiled kids nowadays want the

"Private Benjamin" type Condos on the beach to live in.

Well, war aside, I'd have to say the QOL of the services have improved incredibly over the last 20-25 years...

We now have email access in theater and at sea !! Phone calls almost everywhere !! Food has improved as well.

Now I haven't seen the barracks I was in in 10 years... but they may have gone downhill during the DoD budget cuts since 1991...

Nobody wants to improve the quality of life in the militarty because demorats consider the military to be immoral unethical and culturally and intellectually inferior. the country club crowd hates the military because the can't make 100% profit off them. The lazy civilians who run the defense department hate the military because the see them as being bums idiots and morons.

As a Navy wife, I have to say that our quality of life is fabulous. I do feel bad for the newly enlisted folks who have families to support on a tiny budget, but it can be done with proper budgeting. We have a great retirement plan, free health insurance, the base housing is getting better with PPV, and we get to see the world.

Very few senators and congressmen have served in the military, so they don't care. Then there are the democrats. To Reid and Pelosi, we are their personal hired gunslingers, and if one of us dies, they can replace him or her with another hired gunslinger. Reid and Pelosi are unAmerican and probably in the hire of Al Quaeda. I do know that they are traitors to the United States
